Our First Impression: The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE+

November 4, 2023 by StrawberrY Gal

Much like the Galaxy S23 FE smartphone, Samsung has continued the “Fan Edition” trend by skipping a generation and introducing the Galaxy Tab S9 FE and the Galaxy Tab S9 FE+. These tablets are designed to offer essential features that meet the needs of the majority of users, all while maintaining a more budget-friendly price point compared to Samsung’s premium tablet offerings. This approach aligns with the industry’s focus on providing cost-effective options without sacrificing crucial functionalities.

The Design

The design of the Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ is undeniably one of its standout features. While it’s slightly thicker than some other tablets, measuring 6.5mm, it still offers a comfortable and substantial feel when held, despite its relatively heavier weight.

Looking at its sides, you’ll find the speaker grills and a USB-C port for charging. The bottom features a dock connector, and on the top of the tablet, you’ll see the combined power button/fingerprint sensor and volume rocker, with the microSD card slot situated on the right side. The fingerprint sensor works seamlessly in both portrait and landscape orientations.

The back of the Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ boasts a matte metal finish, housing the camera module on the upper right side and a magnetic strip in the middle for secure storage of the included S Pen. Additionally, the tablet is IP68-rated for dust and water resistance

The Display

The Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ features a 12.4-inch LCD display, a departure from the AMOLED screens found in some other Samsung tablets. Despite this change, the display remains sharp and clear, boasting a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels. It offers good viewing angles, and the colors are both vibrant and accurate. The display also operates at a respectable refresh rate of 90Hz, even though it’s not quite as high as the 120Hz rate found on some other premium tablets.

Despite the compromises made in the FE series, the overall viewing and performance experience on the Tab S9 FE+ is excellent. Samsung has managed to deliver a top-notch user experience, even with slightly toned-down specifications compared to the Tab S9 Plus.

The Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ boasts remarkable color reproduction on its LCD panel, leaving users in awe. Samsung has done an exceptional job here, ensuring that colors are not only vivid but also punchy.

The Sound

A fantastic display is undoubtedly a crucial component for enjoying movies on a tablet, but the audio experience plays an equally significant role. In the case of the Galaxy Tab S9 FE+, its sound quality is powered by dual AKG-tuned speakers, and they do not disappoint.

Hardware & Performance

The performance of the Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ is notably smooth. I tested the version equipped with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, but there’s also an option with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Additionally, both variants come with a microSD card slot that supports expansion of up to 1TB of storage.

The Exynos 1380 processor demonstrates strong optimization, enabling the tablet to handle demanding multitasking with ease

The Camera

The Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ is equipped with two 8MP rear cameras  and at the front it comes with the  12MP camera that performs well.

SPen & Software

 z

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ operates on Android 13 with Samsung’s One UI, and it offers excellent optimizations for larger tablets. One standout feature is Samsung DeX, which transforms the tablet into a laptop-like experience.

The Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ also comes with an S Pen, and it provides a satisfying experience, particularly for an entry-level stylus.  F

Battery

The Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ is equipped with a substantial 10,090mAh battery, providing impressive battery life.

What’s In The Box

When unboxing the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ , you can expect to find a selection of essential items and documents to help you get started with your new device. In here, it comes with the Quick Start Guide, Warranty Card, Regional Lock Guide, an Ejection Pin, S Pen and a Charging Cable.

The Price

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE+  comes in two versions which is at : one with 128GB and  256GB of space. For colours, they will be 4  options which includes Mint, Lavender,  Silver and Grey.

They are priced from RM 3,399. For more information check out https://www.samsung.com/my/tablets/galaxy-tab-s9-fe/buy
