Citarasa Nipah @ EQ Kuala Lumpur

February 27, 2023 by StrawberrY Gal

As the Holy Month of Ramadan approaches, it presents an ideal opportunity to indulge in a culinary journey at EQ. Nipah, the renowned restaurant within EQ, beckons diners to partake in a delightful culinary experience led by the talented Malay Chef Muhammad Hajral Lisarni. Chef Hajral has dedicated himself to mastering the art of traditional Malay cooking, and he showcases his culinary expertise through a diverse range of dishes.

Under Chef Hajral’s guidance, diners are treated to an unforgettable experience that evokes nostalgia for cherished family moments and traditional Malay cuisine. He has meticulously curated an extensive selection of dishes that honor the essence of Malay cuisine, highlighting the flavors and techniques that have been passed down from generation to generation.

The Citarasa Nipah buffet this year features a harmonious blend of traditional and contemporary dishes, providing a true reflection of Malaysian gastronomy. Each dish is prepared with the finest ingredients, coupled with the chef’s creativity and passion for culinary excellence.

This season, guests can indulge in a wide variety of mouth-watering dishes, including EQ’s Signature Satay, a must-try for all food enthusiasts. The carvery station features kambing golek, a roasted whole lamb, as an additional meat option. Chef Hajral’s signature dish, Nasi Beriani Kambing Batu Pahat, is a must-try and is served with nasi beriani and vegetable dhal, featuring lamb as the main ingredient.

Other must-try dishes include the Gulai Lemak Cili Padi Daging Salai, Sambal Tumis Udang Harimau, Ayam Goreng Mamu, Tulang Rawan Gulai Kawah, Kerabu Daging, and Popia Basah Ala Nipah. Sweet local desserts such as Lompat Tikam Sago and Som Som Gula Melaka are also featured.

Citarasa Nipah returns with an even wider variety of delectable kerabu (local salad) prepared by Chef de Partie Saadiah, who was a fan-favorite from last year. Chef Saadiah has modernized traditional kerabu, elevating it to new gastronomic heights that are sure to satisfy even the most discerning palates. She promises daily sampling of the 41 different kerabu, each accompanied by special sauces flavored with aromatic oil and sambal belacan.

Freshly shucked oysters, mussels, tiger prawns, baby scallops, and more will also be available among the fresh seafood on ice.

Guests can end their meal on a sweet note with a wide variety of desserts, including kuih muih and sweet bites such as petite cakes, pavlova, and many more.

According to Mr. Gerard Walker, General Manager of EQ Kuala Lumpur, the Nipah spread is the kind of thing that will make people nostalgic for simpler times. “People’s priorities may change over time, but they will always appreciate a good outing and an opportunity to catch up with friends in none other than our charming restaurant, where you can enjoy Chef Hajral and Chef Saadiah’s delectable creations,” he adds.
