Ayam Brand™ Steps Up Support for Children, Old Folks and Front Liners During The 3rd Wave

March 23, 2021 by StrawberrY Gal

The third-wave of COVID-19 infections continues to impact Malaysians, more so those who are in need and front liners.

Ayam Brand™ understands their challenges, and has stepped up once again with the contribution of its nutritious and tasty canned food products.

While the festive season saw a surge in contributions of festive cookies, cakes and mandarin oranges to charity homes nationwide, the children, differently-abled and old folks at were in need of other nutritious foods such as sardines, tuna and mackerel as well for a balanced diet.

Ayam Brand worked with Angels’ Garden Global Centre to support 10 charity homes in the Klang Valley, and contributed to medical front liners from five hospitals and clinics in Kelantan with products including Ayam Brand Mackerel in Tomato Sauce 425g and 300g, Ayam Brand Baked Beans in Tomato Sauce 425g and 230g, Ayam Brand Sardines in Tomato Sauce 300g and 155g, Ayam Brand Saba Mayonnaise 160g, Ayam Brand Saba in Olive Oil 150g, Ayam Brand Sardine in Tomato Sauce 300g, with the total value of the contribution in access of RM10,000.

The Ayam Brand Sardine are from cold seas, living in the extreme cold condition makes them fattier, juicier and richer in Omega 3. Saba, the Japanese term for Pacific mackerel commonly consumed throughout Japan due to its nutritional value, and has 50% more Omega 3.  Based on an article by U.S National Institutes of Health, diets which are rich in omega-3 have been linked to healthy aging, such as in Japan, which has the highest life expectancy globally[1].  The rich tomato sauce provides lycopene, the strongest antioxidant that helps cell against ageing and help to control blood pressure.

“The pandemic puts pressure on all of us. For front liners, the long hours and stress leaves no time to grab even a quick meal.  Our team in Kelantan highlighted that there was a need that we could meet. We offered our ready-to-eat sardines, tuna and mackerel for its high nutrition value to keep them going,” says Teoh Wei Ling, Marketing Manager at Ayam Brand.

The brand organises and hosts annual corporate social responsibility campaigns, which have gone on for 13 years benefitting more than 524 charity organizations and NGOs in Malaysia.

“The pandemic drastically changed the livelihood and lifestyle for many.  We understand the challenges faced by the NGOs, when the donors became less charitable due to the change in financial priorities.  We continue to pay our part by giving the healthy meals to those in need,” adds Teo.
