Hua Ting Rice Dumplings to Commemorate Dragon Boat Festival 2017

May 8, 2017 by StrawberrY Gal

Singapore: Hua Ting restaurant marks the time-honoured Dragon Boat Festival with a trio of homemade rice dumplings, featuring a savoury creation and two classic best-sellers by award-winning Masterchef Lap Fai.  From 12 May to 30 May 2017, guests may enjoy these popular customary treats available for dine-in and takeaway.

Handcrafted to encompass a hearty Cantonese meal in a single parcel, the Rice Dumpling stuffed with Chinese Cured Meat, Yam and Dried Shrimps  腊味芋头炒米粽 ($15.80) is Masterchef Lap Fai’s new feature this season. Generous filling of cured meats including tender silvers of cured pork (Lap Yuk) and Chinese dried sausages (Lap Cheong) blends perfectly with the smooth aromatic yam bits that lend a sweet-savoury dimension; while touches of dried shrimps add a delectable fragrance – all embedded in soft springy glutinous rice.

Making a comeback as one of last year’s top-sellers is the vegetarian highlight – Brown Rice Dumpling with Trio of Mushrooms and Black Summer Truffle Paste黑松露酱野菌糙米粽 ($14.80). The healthier alternative packs wholesome ingredients most ideal for the health-conscious. Brown rice, long famed for its nutritional benefits, is interspersed with savoury button mushrooms, straw mushrooms, Chinese black mushrooms, and infused with black truffle paste for a modern and tantalising touch.

Unlike most “pyramid” rice dumplings, the signature Hong Kong Style Rice Dumpling with Roasted Meat, Dried Scallops and Beans 香港裹蒸粽 ($24.80) is shaped like a rectangular pillow and tops the choice of our regulars every year! A bite into this decadent delight reveals rich flavours of roast duck and pork, dried scallops, mushrooms, salted egg yolk, fragrant chestnuts and dried lotus seeds, set amidst a golden cushion of premium glutinous rice.

For reservations and takeaway orders, please call Hua Ting restaurant at 6739 6666 or email [email protected]. Prices are subject to service charge and prevailing government taxes.
