HALAL CULINARY DELIGHTS IN HONG KONG

For Malaysians, food usually makes up a huge part of every travel adventure. Visitors to Hong Kong should not miss out on the wonderful array of local cuisine when visiting the city best known for authentic Cantonese dishes with distinct flavours not found anywhere else. Muslim travelers, don’t fret as Hong Kong offers a great variety of halal-certified, mouth-watering offerings so you will still get to enjoy the local cuisine when you visit.

Here’s a peek to some of the top halal-certified restaurants in Hong Kong!



Aladin Mess
Hands down, best Indian takeaway in Hong Kong has to be from Aladin Mess in Causeway Bay. This restaurant is popular with the lunchtime crowd drawn in by the rich and authentic flavors of Indian spices, enticing diners with its signature dishes of vegetable pakoras, chicken tikka, chicken madras, aloo gobi, bhindi masala, paneer mutter, aloo paratha and brisket masala.

Islamic Centre Canteen
No traveler should miss out on authentic dimsum that is synonymous with Hong Kong. Every morning the Islamic Centre Canteen serves up a large variety of mouth-watering halal dimsum and other ala carte Cantonese dishes. Located at the Ammar Mosque and Osman Ramju Sadick Islamic Centre, there are also prayer rooms available for use.

Ma’s Restaurant
Experience the Hong Kong cha chaan teng culture while dining at Ma’s Restaurant. With over 40 years of experience in culinary business, Ma’s Restaurant offers Hong Kong cuisine with a twist of authentic Northwest Chinese flavors. One of the signature dishes not to be missed is the lamb roll, which consists of pan-seared lamb with spicy red pepper, cilantro and cumin, and raw scallion bits. Travelers can also enjoy the white plain bread which is perfect for wrapping lamb meat and vegetables.

Wai Kee Restaurant
Roast duck lovers rejoice! Wai Kee has been serving up one of the best roasts in Hong Kong in the last 30 years. The shop is located at Bowrington road and stands out among the other food stalls with its snaking queues. The stall is a favourite amongst Indonesians and Middle Eastern travelers who travel a long way to taste the signature juicy well-roasted duck, or steamed chicken served with rice, noodle or curry.

Casanova Pizzeria
