GRAND HYATT MACAU WELCOMES THE YEAR OF THE MONKEY WITH SPRING FESTIVAL DRAGON AND LION DANCE

February 8, 2016 by StrawberrY Gal

Adorned with the innovative festive flowers and decorations, Grand Hyatt Macau held a host of festivities to welcome the Year of the Monkey. On Lunar New Year’s Eve, 7 February, hotel guests and visitors were invited to gather at the hotel entrance to witness a firecrackers spectacular at midnight. Then at 12.08 pm on 8 February, General Manager Mr Paul Kwok and the hotel management team joined guests to witness a Spring Festival Dragon and Lion Dance.
Hotel employees participated in the Dotting of the Eye ceremony followed by an impressive display of agility and skill from the local dance troupe, accompanied by clashing cymbals and drums. As the dance reached a climax, the Lion’s head crouched to ‘eat’ lettuce leaves and pick the lucky ‘Lai See’, tossing the leaves to represent prosperity. The Dragon and Lion Dance continued through the various outlets of the hotel, bestowing wishes of good fortune and prosperity on Grand Hyatt Macau. Guests can also enjoy the Chinese martial Arts “Kung Fu” performance and a live DJ at the lobby to welcome the year of the Monkey.
Grand Hyatt Macau’s Beijing Kitchen brings an Authentic Dongbei Regional Specialities – Pig Feast to Macau. Chef Sun Yinming, Chef de Cuisine of Beijing Kitchen, journeyed to Northeast regions, Shenyang and Dalian to explore and study the authentic ingredients and flavors of the Whole Pig Feast. mezza9 Macau and Lobby Lounge will serve auspicious menus and afternoon tea set throughout the holidays and diners can be blessed by the Fortune God, who will distribute lai see packets with lucky charm inscriptions.
