DINING SPECIAL @ MARINA SANDS BAY

October 8, 2015 by StrawberrY Gal

Pizzeria Mozza by Mario Batali in Marina Bay Sands is introducing a new series of meatless delights on Mondays, joining other Mario Batali restaurants in America. Diners can enjoy a Meatless Monday indulgence with wholesome wood-fired oven roasted vegetables and grilled cheese sandwiches.

Meatless Monday is a global movement founded in 2003 in the United States for health and environmental benefits. Chef Batali first joined the movement in May 2010, after learning about the health and environmental impact of the standard American diet. He offers weekly specials in all 14 of his U.S. restaurants and even has meatless meals at home with his family on Mondays.

”The fact is most people eat way more meat than is good for them or the planet. Asking everyone to go vegetarian isn’t a realistic goal but we can focus on a more plant-based diet, and support the farmers who raise their animals humanely and sustainably. That’s why I’m such a big believer in the Meatless Monday movement,” said Chef Mario Batali.

Savour four types of wood-fired oven roasted vegetables, including whole carrots, eggplants, cauliflower and yams, that are slow-cooked in the pizza ovens using almond wood. This slow-cooking method helps to draw out the natural sweetness in the vegetables by caramelizing them and intensifying their flavours. Each vegetable is also specially paired with homemade sauces such as yogurt mint, butter sage and hummus. The carrots and yams are specially sourced from the United States, while the eggplants and cauliflower are from the region. All four types of roasted vegetables will be served on Mondays. From Thursdays to Sundays, one type of vegetable will be available each day.

Popular sandwiches include the Classic Grilled Cheese and Grilled Cheese Sandwich with marinated onions and whole grain mustard. The grilled cheese sandwich programme is created by Chef Nancy Silverton, partner of Mozza, who used to offer grilled cheese nights on Mondays at her previous restaurants. “Freshly baked bread and good quality cheese are two of my favourite ingredients to work with. It’s a dream to transform the humble bread and cheese into flavourful and hearty sandwiches at Mozza,” said Nancy Silverton.

Pizzeria Mozza – Classic Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Meatless Monday at Pizzeria Mozza is now available on Mondays from 12pm (Roasted Vegetables) and 5pm (Grilled Cheese Sandwiches). For reservations, please call 6688 8522 or email mozza-[email protected].

Traditional Thanksgiving at db Bistro & Oyster Bar with all the trimmings

db Bistro Moderne – Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving may not be a national holiday in Singapore, but there is no reason not to celebrate it. Begin Thanksgiving celebrations with a family feast at db Bistro & Oyster Bar starting with a bowl of butternut squash soup followed by Duo of Free Range Turkey consisting of a herb-roasted breast, crispy stuffed legs, Brussels sprouts, cornbread and chestnut stuffing, black pepper-cranberry sauce and gravy.

Complement the feast with a selection of family style sides such as the Macaroni and Cheese Gratin, Cornbread and Chestnut Stuffing, Traditional Mash Potatoes and Creamy Green Bean Casserole with crispy shallots.

The celebration wouldn’t be complete without some traditional sweet treats. Indulge in the Pumpkin Pie with cheesecake ice cream, Traditional Pecan Pie with cookie dough ice cream and Traditional Apple Pie with caramel ice cream. The hearty dinner is priced at S$98++ per person and is available for lunch and dinner on 26 November as well as dinner over the weekend from 27 – 29 November.
