TWO STARWOOD HOTELS & RESORTS IN MALAYSIA PARTICIPATE ONCE AGAIN IN THE MALAYSIAN INTERNATIONAL GOURMET FESTIVAL ( MIGF) 2014

Coming to its 14th successive year, the Malaysia International Gourmet Festival ( MIGF) never fails to excite and surprise with both local and international diners eagerly looking forward to see what the Festival has in store. This festival has established itself as the pinnacle of gastronomic excellence in the region. This year, MIGF will take place from 1st to 31st October 2014 with the theme RED HOT CHEFS!

Through out the whole month of October, outstanding chefs from the country’s best restaurants will offer diners specially created Festival Menus available at exclusive prices together with a host of generous offers.

The spectacular preview event of the MIGF, TasteMIGF, will take place from 26th to 28th September 2014 at the Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre. This year, two of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Malaysia will be participating in the Festival- Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral and The Westin Langkawi Resort & Spa.

Making it debut last year and back again this year, is Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral’s “ Nook” – the hotel’s signature dining venue, showcasing a host of enticing cuisines prepared by Executive Sous Chef Rozaiman and his team. The Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral team has prepared two set menus packaged with and without pairing of alcoholic beverages.They range from RM98nett per person ( 3-course menu), RM130nett per person ( 3-course menu,paired with wines and cocktails), RM188nett per person ( 6-course menu) to RM250nett per person (6-course menu, paired with wines and cocktails).

Diners are in for a gastronomic journey based on Chef Rozaiman’s 22 year experience in the culinary industry. An expert in local, Asian and Western cusines, Chef Rozaiman preserves the fresh flavours of each ingredients whilst working in a modern twist.

Some of the mouth- watering dishes featured on Chef Rozaiman’s menus includes Marinated Sea Conch, Octopus and Sea Urchin Roe in Coconut Kerabu Style with Fiddlehead Fern; Sambal Beef Tongue and Tendon served with Perchik Sauce and Achar Crudité;Cod Assam Pedas Sauce served with Garlic Rice,Salted Egg and Tempura Egg Plant and the refreshing Nook Cendol consisting of Pandan Rice Flour Jelly, Ba’ kelalan Salt, Palm Sugar Ice,Read Bean and Glutionus Rice. Both set menus include coffee , tea or the signature Ais Batu Kopi (ABK). The MIGF set menus are available throughout the month of October and diners can enjoy a 20% discount on alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages (whichincludes selected glasses of wines or champagne) as well as 20% discount on the restaurant’s A La Carte Menu.

Participating for the third time, The Westin Langkawi Resort & Spa and Sous Chef Syahir Ismail are all geared up for action with their very own Seasonal Tastes, the only participating restaurant from outside Kuala Lumpur. The Westin Langkawi team will be featuring a healthy international menu taking inspirations from the Andaman Sea. During the entire month of October, the resort will be serving the special MIGF Festival 4- course menu which will tantalise your senses at RM99+ per person ( without beverage pairing) and at RM169+ (with beverage pairing).

Be prepared for a gratifying dining experience when you order the MIGF menu which features Chef Syahir’s unique touch of fusion tastes from different parts of the world. An adventurous person when it comes to food, Chef Syahir usually get his inspirations from trying different cusines and creatively combines it with various locally sourced ingredients that results in explosive flavours that will keep you wanting for more.

The special menu consist of a delectable appetizer of Double Salmon Sushi balls with roe, together with Breaded oyster spinach and parmesan béarnaise and Pan seared tuna with wasabi mayo on cucumber salad lumpfish caviar. Savour the creamy Broccoli cream with almond flakes in herbed bread soup before kicking off to the main course. Indulge in a succulent Pan seared and slow cooked lamb loin, marbles Wagyu striploin and end with a sweet note of “Tropical Flora” desserts that consist of Chocolate Mille-feuille of Roselle mousse and Chrysanthemum tea ice cream.

In addition to that, diners can also experience a list of fantastic deals in conjuction with the MIGF Festival month which includes a 20% discount on selected wines or champagnes, special 15% discount on cigars, 20% discount on any beverage when ordering from the festival menu and 20% discount off the total food bill when you book more than 6 seats. Not only that, diners will also stand a chance to win a romantic dinner for two at “ Anjung Damai” by the beach. Terms and conditions apply.

Plus, there will also be a cooking class for all guests every Wednesday from 3pm to 4pm in the month of October featuring The Westin Langkawi Resort & Spa festival menus. The cooking class is priced at RM35+ per person for a minimum number of 5 persons to a maximum of 10 persons per class.
