CELEB CHEFS PRESENT AUTHENTIC TASTES OF HANGZHOU AT FIVE SEN5ES, THE WESTIN KUALA LUMPUR

February 20, 2014 by StrawberrY Gal

The Westin Kuala Lumpur presents a sumptuous sensory journey at Five Sen5es this spring, featuring premium Cantonese cuisine from 11 to 23 March 2014. Celebrated Chef Kong Khai Meng of the five star Dragon Hotel, Hangzhou will be joining The Westin KL’s culinary team to create a special menu of authentic Hangzhou cuisine, using the finest local ingredients and skilfully crafted for a modern, discerning palate.

KL gourmands can savour the ‘Celeb Chefs Present Dragon Chef’ set lunch and dinner menus of the very highest quality, alongside a la carte lunch and dinner options. To begin the culinary journey, enticing “Jiangnan” appetisers showcase Chef’s innovative presentation, followed by an array of refined dishes including Champignon mushroom, aged-wine chicken mousse consommé, West lake sweet and sour aged-vinegar, escalope of cod and soy cured eggplant, bamboo shoots with sakura shrimp flakes, to name a few. Grand Dragon signature dishes reveal delicate artistry at work with sautéed Long Jing tea river shrimps, duo style, while hairy crab meat and roe cooked in whole orange classic Hangzhou style highlights an innovative fusion of taste and texture.

Chef Kong Khai Meng, with over 20 years’ experience in Southeast Asia’s finest restaurants, is the creative force behind award-winning Grand Dragon Chinese Restaurant, Hangzhou alongside world-renowned celebrity chef Jereme Leung, a pioneer of contemporary Chinese cuisine. Together this dynamic culinary duo have been honoured with prestigious accolades, such as the Food & Wine 50 Best Restaurant award for Grand Dragon, and they continue to redefine the essence of authentic Hangzhou cuisine with modern, creative flair.

Asian MasterChef Jereme Leung is the creative powerhouse behind Modern Chinese Cuisines. He is one of the pioneer chefs who perfectly blend the concept of Modern Chinese Cuisines with classical Chinese provincial food. He was launched onto the international culinary platform when his Whampoa Club Restaurants serving new Shanghainese and Beijing cuisines stirred up great enthusiasm for “Modern Chinese Cuisines” around the world and set excellent examples with the integration of traditional Chinese cuisines with international elements which were very well received and much lauded among gourmands. Leung’s own contemporary interpretation of Chinese cuisine, with a modern approach to presentation, has caught the attention of numerous international restaurant critics, including Nina and Tim Zagat, creators and publishers of the highly respected Zagat Survey. Today, Jereme Leung is a renowned food and beverage concept services consultant. He established Jereme Leung Creative Concepts -J.L. after his own name to provide food service consulting for top restaurants around the world including the Dragon Hotel Hangzhou’s Grand Dragon Restaurant.

The Dragon Chef set lunch is priced at RM98++ per person whilst the set dinner is priced at RM168++ per person. SPG R&B members can enjoy a 10% discount whilst Beyond Card members enjoy a 15% discount off the menu price.
