Penang Heritage Food Bazaar at Moxy Putrajaya: Bridging Flavours  from George Town to IOI Resort City

July 23, 2025 by StrawberrY Gal

This July, the vibrant heart of Putrajaya is getting a bold culinary makeover as Moxy Putrajaya teams up with Courtyard by Marriott Penang to present the Penang Heritage Food Bazaar — a dynamic cross-city food festival celebrating the island’s rich street food culture.

Held every Friday and Saturday from 11 to 26 July 2025 at Moxy’s trendy Three.6.5 restaurant, the event promises a sensory journey through Penang’s legendary hawker scene, bringing the soul of George Town straight to IOI Resort City.

A Bold Street Food Takeover

Smoky woks. Sizzling grills. Sweet, icy cendol. The Penang Heritage Food Bazaar recreates the atmosphere of a bustling night market, complete with live-action cooking stations, storytelling through food, and some of the island’s most iconic flavours.

Expect must-try dishes such as:

Penang Char Koay Teow by Chef Muslimim of Courtyard Penang

White Curry Mee and Penang Popiah by Chef Zaim

Nasi Kandar and Pasembur Rojak by Guest Chef Rao

Penang Hokkien Prawn Mee, a hometown tribute by Chef Jimmy Lim and Chef John of Moxy Putrajaya

Adding to the feast are over ten live cooking counters serving up everything from Seafood on Ice and Chargrilled Meats to a Goreng-Goreng Corner and indulgent Penang-style desserts, including a full-sized Onde-Onde Whole Cake and a decadent Durian Cendol Bar.

From George Town to Putrajaya: A Chef Exchange in Action

What makes this event more than just a buffet is the chef collaboration at its core. The bazaar highlights a unique chef exchange program, bridging culinary talent between Penang and Putrajaya. Among the stars:

Chef Jimmy Lim (Moxy Putrajaya): With over 17 years of experience, Chef Jimmy brings a modern fusion edge to traditional flavours while honouring his Penang roots.

Chef Muslimim (Courtyard Penang): A Western-Malay cuisine expert, Chef Muslimim is known for his signature Assam Laksa and wok-charred masterpieces, blending elegance with earthy, local flavours.

Together, the chefs deliver more than just plates — they serve heritage, memories, and a deep passion for preserving Penang’s food legacy.

A Gastronomic Passport to Penang

Whether you’re a food lover, heritage enthusiast, or just looking for a weekend dining experience with a difference, the Penang Heritage Food Bazaar promises a rich blend of culture, flavour, and connection. With every bite, guests are transported to the hawker-lined streets of George Town, all without leaving Putrajaya.
