Celebrate  the Year of the Snake @ Shang Palace, Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur

January 21, 2025 by StrawberrY Gal

Ring in the auspicious Year of the Snake with a decadent culinary experience at Shang Palace, Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur. The carefully curated Immense Wealth Set Menu, a 9-course masterpiece, is poised to elevate your festive celebrations with its innovative flair and rich flavors.

Kickstart the festivities with the Auspicious Yee Sang, a luxurious medley of premium ingredients including 2-head abalone, poached lobster, Hokkaido scallops, and Scottish smoked salmon. Accentuated by the delicate aroma of kaffir lime leaves, this dish embodies the essence of prosperity, unity, and joy. Toss to greater heights with this harmonious blend of fresh flavors, primed to set the tone for an unforgettable meal.

Double-Boiled Chicken Soup with Chinese Herbs, Fish Maw, and Red Dates

One of my favourites and this is addictively good and nutritious. The rich and yet savory-sweet marine notes and infused with the subtle fragrance of Chinese herbs, this soulful broth reflects the dedication of Executive Sous Chef Chew Tai Beh and his culinary team.

Steamed Soon Hock with Crystal Noodles, Tangerine Peel, and Black Bean Sauce

This is a must to try. Locally sourced to align with Shangri-La’s environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) initiatives, the fish is indeed a standout. Paired with slippery crystal noodles that soak up the fish’s natural sweetness and a bold sauce enriched by aged tangerine peel and black beans, this dish strikes a perfect balance of texture and flavor.

Braised 6-head Abalone with Sea Moss and Sun-Dried Oysters

The Braised 6-head Abalone with Sea Moss and Sun-Dried Oysters is a classic specialty brimming with umami richness and textural variety. The abalone is superbly good and tender. Love every bites  of it!

Simmered Locally Sourced Yellow Chicken in Ginger-Infused Sauce with Black Fungus

Complementing this is the Simmered Locally Sourced Yellow Chicken in Ginger-Infused Sauce with Black Fungus, where tender chicken meets an irresistible sauce enhanced by the sweetness of goji berries and the crunch of black fungus. This is superbly good and delicious!

Sautéed King Prawns and Asparagus in Golden Yam Ring

Sichuan-inspired creations shine with the Sautéed King Prawns and Asparagus in Golden Yam Ring, offering a burst of zingy heat and vibrant flavors.

Organic White and Red Rice with Minced Seafood

The Organic White and Red Rice with Minced Seafood is crowned with crispy Sakura prawns, adding texture and depth to the nutty grains and seafood mix.

Sweetened Broth of Snow Fungus with Six Flavored Glutinous Rice Dumplings

End the meal on a sweet note with the Sweetened Broth of Snow Fungus with Six Flavored Glutinous Rice Dumplings, paired with Deep-Fried Crispy Rice Paper Wrapped Nian Gao with Yam and Sweet Potato. A touch of tradition and modernity is seen in the Steamed Trehalose and Coconut Nian Gao, offering a delightful finish to your celebratory meal.
