A Prosperous Celebration: Welcoming the Year of the Snake with Oversea Restaurant

January 19, 2025 by StrawberrY Gal

As the Year of the Dragon draws to a close, families and friends around the world begin their preparations for the much-anticipated arrival of the Lunar New Year. On January 29, 2025, the earthy Snake will usher in a year of prosperity, wisdom, and abundance. Oversea Restaurant, renowned for its mastery of Cantonese cuisine, invites diners to celebrate this auspicious occasion with a festive menu that honors tradition while embracing modern culinary creativity. Available from late December 2024 through Chap Goh Mei, Oversea’s Lunar New Year offerings promise joy, abundance, and flavors that bring people together.

Oversea Restaurant elevates this tradition with innovative options such as the Fabulous Fruity Yee Sang with Dragon Fruit Sauce and the Yee Sang with Jellyfish & Korean Snow Pear, offering refreshing flavors and textures. For those who prefer classic tastes, Oversea also serves Yee Sang with Smoked Salmon or Abalone, while the luxurious Yee Sang with Abalone & Black Truffle caters to more refined palates. Starting at RM78++, Oversea ensures that every toss is a celebration of flavor and fortune.

The Prosperity Treasure Pot, or “Poon Choi,” is a quintessential Chinese New Year dish that embodies the spirit of abundance and sharing. Oversea Restaurant’s version features 16 layers of premium ingredients, including Cantonese Roast Duck, Crispy Roasted Pork Belly, Iberico Pork Ball, and delicacies such as Whole Abalone, Japanese Dried Scallops, and Fish Maw. These ingredients are slow-braised in a rich, aromatic broth, creating a dish that is as visually stunning as it is delicious.

Priced at RM688++ and serving six people, this festive favorite can be enjoyed in the restaurant or taken home for a grand reunion feast. It is the perfect centerpiece for families seeking to begin the new year on an auspicious note.

For those yearning for a dish that evokes nostalgia and warmth, Oversea Restaurant’s Hong Kong-Style Claypot Waxed Meat Rice is a must-try. Cooked in a traditional clay pot, this dish locks in moisture and infuses every grain of rice with the rich, smoky essence of waxed meat. Each bite reveals layers of flavors, with three types of waxed meat combining to create a dish that is both comforting and celebratory.

Perfect for gatherings, this dish is available at RM138++ for six people and RM168++ for ten people, making it an ideal choice for both intimate dinners and larger family reunions.

Sweet Treats for Gifting and Indulgence

The Lunar New Year is also a time for gifting, and Oversea Restaurant offers a delightful selection of freshly baked confectionery. From the buttery Pineapple Yogurt Cookies (RM33.90 nett) to the classic Pineapple Balls (RM39.90 nett), these treats are perfect for sharing or enjoying at home. Other highlights include the crisp Egg Rolls (RM28.80 nett) and the fluffy Oriental Muffins (RM39.80 nett), all beautifully packaged to capture the festive spirit.

A New Dining Experience at Oversea Palace Seafood

Oversea Group’s latest establishment, Oversea Palace Seafood, offers a unique dining experience in a serene garden setting. Located at Menara Lien Hoe, this elegant venue features peach blossoms, live seafood tanks, and 17 private rooms, making it an ideal location for both intimate gatherings and grand celebrations.

As the Year of the Snake approaches, Oversea Restaurant invites you to celebrate with dishes that honor the rich traditions of Cantonese cuisine while embracing modern flavors. Gather your loved ones and make this Lunar New Year truly memorable with Oversea.
