Cili Kampung @ KLCC: A Culinary Journey from the Heart of Langkawi to KLCC

September 24, 2024 by StrawberrY Gal

Born in the tranquil island of Langkawi, Cili Kampung quickly became a culinary beacon for both locals and tourists seeking an authentic taste of traditional Malay cuisine. With its humble beginnings as a local favorite, the restaurant soon garnered immense popularity, inspiring its expansion beyond the shores of Langkawi. Today, Cili Kampung proudly brings its signature flavors to the bustling metropolis of Kuala Lumpur, with three vibrant outlets in Hartamas Shopping Centre, Suria KLCC, and the recently opened Alamanda.

At Cili Kampung, we’ve masterfully fused the nostalgia of kampung life with modern design to create a dining atmosphere that feels both homely and sophisticated. The décor strikes the perfect balance between sleek, contemporary touches and rustic, village-inspired elements. Adorned with leafy green surroundings, Cili Kampung’s outlets evoke a sense of warmth and comfort, making it an ideal spot for intimate gatherings, family meals, and special celebrations.

Whether you’re dining at our Hartamas, Suria KLCC, or Alamanda locations, you’ll find that each outlet offers a unique yet consistent dining experience. The spacious seating arrangements cater to groups of all sizes, while the friendly staff ensures that every guest is welcomed with the genuine hospitality that Cili Kampung is known for.

The essence of Cili Kampung lies in its unwavering dedication to preserving the bold, robust flavors of traditional Malay cuisine while presenting it in an innovative and modern way. Our menu is a celebration of Malaysia’s rich culinary heritage, featuring a wide range of dishes that pay homage to time-honored recipes while offering a fresh, contemporary twist.

Each dish at Cili Kampung is crafted with the utmost care, using only the freshest ingredients sourced from local markets. Whether you’re a long-time fan of Malay food  or a first-time explorer of the cuisine, our offerings are designed to tantalize your taste buds and transport you to the heart of a traditional kampung. Our carefully curated menu showcases the very best of Malay flavors, with dishes that not only satisfy the palate but also tell a story of cultural heritage.

Kerabu Kerang Pucuk Paku (RM 25)

A refreshing take on a traditional Malay salad, this dish features tender fiddledhead fern tips tossed with spicy, succulent cockles. The vibrant combination of textures and flavors—spicy, tangy, and fresh—makes this a must-try for seafood lovers. The dish captures the essence of kampung cuisine, where ingredients are sourced from the land and sea, creating a dish that’s both rustic and refined.

Masak Lomak Beef (RM 48)

A true crowd favorite, this dish features tender, slow-cooked beef in a rich yellow coconut gravy. Made with a blend of homemade chili paste, lemongrass, turmeric, and fresh coconut milk, the dish bursts with flavor. The beef is cooked until it melts in your mouth, while the creamy, fragrant gravy is perfect for pairing with rice. This dish is a comforting reminder of home-cooked meals, lovingly prepared with the finest ingredients.

Sambal Petai Prawns

A quintessential Malay dish, our Sambal Petai Prawns are packed with bold flavors and textures. The prawns are large and juicy, cooked to perfection in a spicy sambal sauce with petai (stink beans), a beloved ingredient in Malay cooking. The dish offers a perfect balance of heat and sweetness, with the petai adding an earthy, slightly bitter flavor that complements the prawns beautifully.

Terung Goreng Belachan

This simple yet satisfying side dish features fried eggplant tossed with a fragrant belachan (fermented shrimp paste) sauce. The eggplant is soft and smoky, while the belachan sauce adds a depth of umami that elevates the dish. Paired with rice or enjoyed on its own, this dish is a testament to the power of simple ingredients cooked with care.

Telur Dadar Kampung

Another must try is their village-style omelette is a classic comfort food that’s perfect for any meal. Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, the omelette is infused with traditional flavors that remind you of home. It’s the perfect accompaniment to our rich, flavorful main dishes.

Onde Onde Puding Bakar

A modern twist on the traditional onde-onde, this dessert is a layered creation of buttered bread infused with pandan and coconut milk, topped with palm sugar and grated roasted coconut. Served with a homemade vanilla sauce, this dish is a delightful fusion of flavors and textures that will leave you craving more.

Bukit Kelapa

For coconut lovers, this dessert is a dream come true. Creamy coconut ice cream is paired with pineapple filling, gula melaka syrup, honeycomb, mixed nuts, and crumbs, creating a dessert that’s rich, refreshing, and full of delightful contrasts.

Lychee Lime & Rose

A refreshing combination of lychee, lime, and rose, this drink is the perfect palate cleanser. The sweetness of the lychee is balanced by the tartness of the lime, while the subtle floral notes of rose add a touch of elegance to every sip.

Whether you’re visiting for a casual lunch, a family dinner, or a special occasion, Cili Kampung promises an unforgettable journey into the heart of Malay cuisine. Our blend of traditional flavors and modern presentation ensures that every dish is a feast for the senses, while our warm, welcoming ambiance makes every meal feel like a homecoming.
