Hoshiki Izakaya : A gem in Damansara Uptown

 Nestled in the vibrant neighborhood of Damansara Uptown, Hoshiki Izakaya stands out as one of the premier Japanese restaurants and Izakaya bars in the area. Known for its authentic Japanese ambiance, this restaurant offers a perfect setting for intimate conversations, late-night sake sessions, and relaxed get-togethers. The establishment even boasts private rooms for added privacy, making it an ideal spot for both personal and business gatherings.

Hoshiki Izakaya is renowned for its exceptional Kushiyaki and extensive sake selection. Upon entering, guests are immediately transported to Japan, thanks to the restaurant’s meticulous attention to detail in its decor and atmosphere. The cozy and inviting space, adorned with traditional Japanese elements, creates an ambiance that is both warm and authentic. Whether you are a fan of Japanese cuisine or a newcomer, Hoshiki Izakaya promises a memorable dining experience that is as close to Japan as you can get without boarding a plane.

Grilled Stingray

The grilled stingray was a standout dish, boasting a perfect grill that rendered each bite flavorful and aromatic. The stingray’s springy texture made it incredibly addictive, and it paired wonderfully with both beer and sake.

Lady Finger with Citrus Vinegar and Cucumber with Salted Kombu.

Next on the menu were the Lady Finger with Citrus Vinegar and Cucumber with Salted Kombu. These appetizers scored high marks for their refreshing and appetizing flavors.

The Lady Finger with Citrus Vinegar offered a zesty and tangy experience, a perfect palate cleanser that prepared us for the dishes to follow. 

Cucumber with Salted Kombu

Meanwhile, the Cucumber with Salted Kombu provided a unique and savory crunch that was both satisfying and intriguing. These dishes were light yet flavorful, making them ideal starters that whetted our appetite for more.

Sashimi Moriawase 

Moving on to the sashimi selection, we indulged in the Sashimi Moriawase, which featured generous cuts of tuna, salmon, and kampachi. Each piece of sashimi was incredibly fresh, offering a taste experience that sashimi lovers would surely appreciate. The quality of the fish was evident in every bite, with the rich flavors and delicate textures combining to create a truly exceptional dish.

Nori Tako Sashimi 

The Nori Tako Sashimi presented a unique twist on traditional sashimi. Served on top of seaweed, this dish stood out for its generous portions and innovative presentation. The sashimi was cut into cubes and topped with ebiko, adding a delightful burst of flavor and texture. This creative approach to sashimi not only delighted the palate but also provided a visually stunning dish that was almost too beautiful to eat.

Salmon Belly Sashimi 

Another must-try is their Salmon Belly Sashimi. This dish features generous cuts of salmon belly, known for its rich, creamy texture that melts in your mouth. Each bite was a symphony of flavors, combining the freshness of the fish with the delicate fattiness of the belly to create an unforgettable taste sensation.

Beef Carpaccio 

The Beef Carpaccio is one of the unique dishes we tried. Initially, we were skeptical, but after one bite, we were sold. The lightly roasted beef is perfectly served with their homemade carpaccio sauce, creating an unforgettable taste. 

Kushiyaki 

A must-have at Hoshiki Izakaya is definitely their Kushiyaki. They offer a wide variety of options, and we enjoyed them all. Highlights include the Chicken Thigh, Pork Belly Kushiyaki, Cheese Chicken Meatball, Grilled Zucchini, and Grilled Shiitake Mushroom. Each skewer was grilled to perfection, with the ingredients’ natural flavors enhanced by a touch of char and seasoning.

The Chicken Meatball with Egg Yolk is a must-order. The tender and juicy chicken meatball is served with a creamy egg yolk, making it love at first sight and bite. The richness of the egg yolk complements the savory meatball, creating a harmonious blend of flavors that is both comforting and delicious. This dish exemplifies the essence of Kushiyaki – simple ingredients transformed into culinary masterpieces through expert grilling and seasoning.

Yakiniku Don 

Don’t miss out on their Yakiniku Don. Each mouthful of this don is fragrant and delicious, perfectly crafted to offer a delightful dining experience. The thinly sliced beef is cooked to perfection and served atop a bed of fluffy rice, with each bite delivering a satisfying combination of textures and flavors. The don is drizzled with a savory sauce that enhances the beef’s natural umami, making it a dish that you will want to savor until the last grain of rice.

The Pork Ribs Ramen

The Pork Ribs Ramen is a particularly good choice, featuring amazingly good, slurpilicious noodles served with tender, flavorful pork ribs. The broth is rich and hearty, with a depth of flavor that speaks to hours of careful simmering. Each spoonful is a comforting, soul-warming experience, perfect for those seeking a satisfying meal.

Hoshiki Izakaya in Damansara Uptown is a gem for those seeking an authentic Japanese dining experience. From its inviting atmosphere to its delectable dishes, particularly the Kushiyaki and sashimi, the restaurant offers a memorable culinary journey.
