Who’s Teaching Whom?

January 10, 2024 by StrawberrY Gal

It knows me. It understands me. It makes my life so much better. It completes me.

Sounds like the ideal life partner, doesn’t it?

These days however, we are just as likely to hear people describing their devices, particularly those powered by Artificial Intelligence and machine learning abilities, in this manner. As a function of AI, machine learning automatically enables a machine or system to learn and improve from its experiences with us, the user. By using algorithms to analyze large amounts of data, learn from the insights, and then make informed decisions, these devices understand our needs via spoken commands, visual gestures, and other cues in order to dramatically improve our lives.

Which then brings us to this question… if machines (and programs) have to learn from us in order to function, what can we learn from machine learning in order to live more fulfilling lives?

Collaboration Begins with Communication

Working together for a common purpose, to achieve a common goal, even to solve a universal problem, begins and ends with effective communication. Which is to say, the process of exchanging ideas, thoughts, opinions, knowledge, and data so that the message is received and understood with clarity and purpose. And for a tiny glimpse of one benefit Galaxy AI will enable, look no further than the very thing our phones were originally created to do, communicating each other.

AI Live Translate Call will soon give users with the latest Galaxy AI phone a personal translator whenever they need it. Because it’s integrated into the native call feature, the hassle of having to use third-party apps is gone. Audio and text translations will appear in real-time as you speak, making calling someone who speaks another language about as simple as turning on closed captions when you stream a show. Because it’s on-device Galaxy AI, you can trust that no matter the scenario, private conversations never leave your phone.

Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff

In this day and age of extreme complexity and endless choices, it can be easy to lose sight of the bigger picture in life and get lost in the tiniest details that may end up being unimportant after all. For creatives, the simple act of taking a photograph can be fraught with so many stresses that you might be tempted to give up even before you’ve even clicked the shutter. Arming yourself with the ideal AI enabled tool may be able to help you avoid this.

For example, Samsung’s Galaxy S23 Ultra series uses AI Image Enhance, a software-based feature that relies on AI algorithms to improve image output when you click a photo. Object Eraser leverages the power of AI to let you eliminate unwanted elements from images, so you can make the perfect picture from an imperfect shot. Just select the object and the AI algorithm will replace it with a matching background. So the next time your little brother tries to ruin your pictures, let him.

The Power of Anticipation

Anticipation lives in the very heart of foresight. AI technologies are capable of providing services that users previously didn’t even know they needed and this ability is set to accelerate exponentially in the near future. When Samsung first launched Bixby as an intelligent voice assistant, it was part of a vision to create a human-to-machine interface that makes life easier and can advance over time with Samsung Galaxy innovation. Since then, its capabilities have grown into an even more intelligent interface that is proactive and adaptive, with the ability to recognise intent and process follow-up requests by understanding context and associating words previously used in interactions.

For example, your Bixby enabled devices can take calls for you when you can’t (or won’t) by converting typed responses into audio and conveying your message directly to the caller. Bixby users can also launch a workout on Samsung Health and then get Bixby to autonomously tailor a playlist that vibes with any exercise routine using a simple voice command. In short, life is less likely to catch you unawares and unprepared if you have the right skillsets to anticipate what’s coming AND act in advance.

And now, Galaxy AI is coming. Register your interest now until 17 January 2024 to be entitled for an exclusive up to RM400 e-voucher  when you pre-order the new Galaxy. Plus, stand a chance to win a daily mystery gift  by following the simple steps below:
