Vietjet Launches Direct Service Linking Ho Chi Minh City and Jakarta

August 8, 2023 by StrawberrY Gal

Vietjet, a leading airline known for its network expansion and affordable air services, has taken another step forward by launching its third direct route connecting Ho Chi Minh City and Jakarta, Indonesia.

This new direct service offers travelers a convenient option with seven flights per week, each taking just three hours on modern aircraft. It connects Ho Chi Minh City and Jakarta, two vibrant urban centers representing Vietnam and Indonesia’s distinctive cultural characteristics. The route serves as a gateway for tourism and economic opportunities between the two countries.

“Vietjet’s new direct route will have a significant and positive impact on the aviation industry and travel between Indonesia and Vietnam. These two countries hold crucial positions within the ASEAN bloc and the wider Asia-Pacific region. As such, we extend them a warm welcome and would like to further express our commitment to supporting airlines such as Vietjet in their efforts to enhance air connectivity between Indonesia and Vietnam,” said Putu Eka Cahyadi, Director of Air Transportation at DGCA Indonesia.

He said this during the launching ceremony that happened at the Legal and Policy Forum, which aimed at promoting cooperation between both Vietnam and Indonesia on economy, trade and investment. Also present was Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) Chairman Arsjad Rasjid, Vietjet’s Vice President Nguyen Thanh Son, alongside other representatives from the two countries.

“Vietjet is delighted to commence the new direct service linking Jakarta and Ho Chi Minh City, which will make it easier and affordable than ever for Vietnamese to visit Jakarta, Indonesia and vice versa. More direct flights between Vietnam and Indonesia will further create abundant opportunities for seamless travel, business collaborations, and boosting bilateral trade, tourism, and cultural exchanges,” said Nguyen Thanh Son, Vice President of Vietjet.

The new daily flight is scheduled to depart from Ho Chi Minh City at 09:35 and arrive in Jakarta at 12:30. The return flight is scheduled to take off from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK) in Jakarta at 13:30 and arrive in Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN) in Ho Chi Minh City at 16:40 (Local time).

“We are excited to welcome Vietjet as the newest airline flying passengers to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. We believe that with a commitment to providing cost-effective fares coupled with high quality air services, Vietjet will add value to our airport connectivity in serving Indonesians and other international flyers by boosting air connectivity between the two countries, the Asia-Pacific region and the world. The airline’s extensive domestic network in Vietnam will also offer more choices for passengers wanting to explore other destinations in Vietnam,” said Dwi Ananda Wicaksana, Executive General Manager of Soekarno Hatta International Airport.

In addition to the new Ho Chi Minh City – Jakarta route, the airline will also be increasing flights between Bali, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, offering a total of 84 flights per week between Vietnam and Indonesia starting from 12 August. These direct routes promise to provide convenient and seamless travel options for both business and leisure travelers, further strengthening the ties between the two countries.

To celebrate the new route launch, Vietjet is offering attractive ticket promotions for the Vietnam – Indonesia routes, with base fares starting from just RM120 all-in. Travelers can take advantage of these deals by selecting “Find lowest fares” when booking.

The promotional tickets will be available every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday until the end of the year, with the travel period lasting from August 10, 2023, to March 31, 2024 (excluding public holidays). Additionally, the airline is providing complimentary Sky Care travel insurance to all passengers across its entire flight network, ensuring the safety and well-being of all travelers.
