Celebrate 66 Years of Independence with Nobu KL

August 25, 2023 by StrawberrY Gal

Nobu Kuala Lumpur is thrilled to unveil its exciting new Flavours of Freedom Osusume, a Merdeka-themed menu that perfectly embodies sophistication and innovation. Looking to celebrate Malaysia’s rich culture and heritage, this unique menu will be available at Nobu Kuala Lumpur from 21 August 2023 to 17 September 2023, encompassing the melodious spirits of independence through gastronomic excellence across Merdeka Day and Malaysia Day.

“It’s with immense joy and heartfelt pride that we introduce the all-new Flavours of Freedom Osusume menu here at Nobu Kuala Lumpur, fusing Merdeka with the spirit of Malaysia Day. Drawing inspiration from rich culinary tapestries such as Sabah and Penang, we were able to blend these local flavours with Nobu’s signature style, resulting in a harmonious symphony of flavours that pay homage to the nation’s rich heritage and diverse food culture. I am genuinely proud of my talented team of chefs who have poured their passion and creativity into crafting this exciting menu, and I eagerly await for our customers to indulge in this vibrant journey of diverse flavour,” said Chef Philip Leong, Head Chef of Nobu Kuala Lumpur.

Chef Renante Dominguez, Head Sushi Chef of Nobu Kuala Lumpur, was also notably excited with the release of the all-new Flavours of Freedom Osusume Menu as he mentioned, “To be able to place a local twist on Nobu’s signature  dishes was a daunting task, but one that I was very much thrilled to explore. With our extravagant selection of sushi, along with a Red Snapper appetiser inked with little local flavours, I am proud of what we have come up with and cannot wait for our loyal Nobu Kuala Lumpur guests to try it!”

Epicurean enthusiasts are in for an avant-garde treat with the Flavours of Freedom Osusume – Highlights include the Red Snapper with Coriander Dressing, where thinly sliced succulent snapper is topped with the freshest mangoes and cucumbers, before being edged with hints of zesty coriander dressing and freshly squeezed calamansi that will leave taste buds undoubtedly tantalised. Delighting its patrons with a sumptuous oceanic experience, the Penang Oyster dish presents an exquisite fusion of fresh and succulent briny oysters, and the acidic elegance of pickled pomelo. This culinary masterpiece truly encapsulates a sense of opulence.

Elevating the menu with its exceptional presence, the Sabah Slipper Lobster and Caviar dish unites the pristine Sabah Slipper Lobster with a crunchy Soba Tostada and velvety smooth Edamame Hummus. This harmonious combination creates an extraordinary interplay of diverse textures and cosmopolitan flavours that is truly unmatched. To culminate their luxurious Independence Day odyssey, patrons can savour an elevated rendition of the delectable “Ma Lai Gao” dessert; a symphonic creation that intertwines the classic Chinese sweet green tea sponge cake, with a delectably creamy Onde-Onde Mochi and Green Tea Ice-Cream. This delightful ensemble promises to leave you feeling atop the saccharine-fueled clouds of euphoria.

“At Nobu Kuala Lumpur, our relentless pursuit to craft exceptional dining experiences that seamlessly blend tradition with contemporary innovation. This commitment holds especially true for this Independence Day Celebration! As an expat venturing into Malaysia, it became evident to me that this country is one that is rich in history, culture, and a haven for all sorts of food! It is this very sentiment that we aimed to mirror through our Flavours of Freedom Osusume; a heartfelt tribute by Nobu Kuala Lumpur to the opulent heritage and dynamic food landscape of Malaysia!” said Alexander Tito, General Manager of Nobu Kuala Lumpur.

As the vibrant echoes of Merdeka fills the air this August, luxuriate in the bountiful symphonies of Malaysia’s independence with Nobu Kuala Lumpur’s exclusive Merdeka Osusume menu. Elevate your senses as Nobu Kuala Lumpur blends history and gastronomy, crafting a limited-time experience that not only commemorates Malaysia’s culinary richness, but also seeks to explore flavours that transcend borders.
