Wha Rong @ 1 Utama: More than Just Mee Tarik!

March 7, 2023 by StrawberrY Gal

If you’re a foodie in search of a diverse range of culinary experiences, Wha Rong is definitely worth checking out. Formerly known as De Mala Hotpot, this eatery has recently undergone a rebranding to offer a wider range of dishes, including noodles, dim sum, and hotpot.

One of their standout dishes is their Mee Tarik, which has a wide range of flavors to choose from. This dish is a must-try for anyone who loves noodles. The noodles are freshly pulled, giving them a satisfying texture that’s both chewy and flavorful. They’re then cooked to perfection and served hot, making for a truly delightful experience.

The Food

 in Chicken Collagen Soup

We were in for a real treat when we ordered the Chef’s Recommendation at Wha Rong – the “Mee Tarik with Crispy Chicken Chop in Chicken Collagen Soup”. As we took our first bites, we were transported to noodle heaven! The hand-pulled Mee Tarik noodles were perfectly cooked and had a satisfying chewiness to them. The broth was a delight for the senses, with its aromatic chicken collagen soup that had a delicate balance of flavors. And let’s not forget about the pièce de résistance – the crispy chicken chop! This fresh, deep-fried delight elevated the dish to a whole new level with its crunchiness and juiciness. It was a true work of culinary art that left us wanting more.

Spicy Dry mee Tarik with Red Oil Wanton

If you’re feeling adventurous and looking for a spicy kick, I highly recommend trying Wha Rong’s Spicy Dry Mee Tarik with Red Oil Wanton. This dish is a perfect blend of textures and flavors that will have your taste buds dancing with joy. The handmade wantons are filled with juicy minced chicken and paired with the rich, spicy red oil that elevates the dish to another level. The chewy noodles complement the heat perfectly, and every bite is an explosion of flavors in your mouth. Trust me, after one bite, you’ll be completely hooked on this dish!

Braised Beef Rice

If you’re a fan of hearty, meaty dishes, then you must try the Beef Rice at Wha Rong. This complete meal is a rice lover’s dream, with perfectly braised beef that’s tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. The beef is cooked to perfection, so it practically melts in your mouth with each bite.

The dish is also incredibly filling, making it perfect for those looking for a satisfying lunch or dinner. The rice is perfectly cooked and absorbs all the rich flavors of the beef, creating a deliciously satisfying meal that you won’t soon forget.

Hot & Sour Soup

Served in a generous portion, the aromatic broth is bursting with light spiciness and a tangy sourness that creates a perfect balance of flavors. Each spoonful is like a warm hug, comforting and satisfying. Whether you’re feeling under the weather or just in the mood for some soup, this bowl of wholesome goodness is sure to hit the spot. So, don’t hesitate to give it a try!

Chicken Dumpling Soup

If you’re looking for a comforting bowl of soup to warm your soul on a rainy day, look no further than Wha Rong’s Chicken Dumpling Soup. This dish is a perfect combination of hot, aromatic soup and delicious homemade dumplings. The chicken dumplings are bursting with flavor, and the soup is so comforting that it will make you forget all about the gloomy weather outside.

 Red Oil Wanton

We just couldn’t resist ordering the Red Oil Wanton again and again – it was definitely our favorite dish! The perfect balance of spiciness and flavor in the wanton filling made it an absolute delight for our taste buds. Every bite was so delicious, we just couldn’t get enough of it!

Pan Fried Chicken Bun

I was pleasantly surprised to discover the Pan-Fried Chicken Bun on the menu. It turned out to be an awesome dish that exceeded my expectations. The bun was packed with fragrant minced chicken that was cooked to perfection and wrapped in a soft and fluffy bun. When pan-fried, the bun developed a crispy exterior that gave way to a juicy and flavorful filling inside. Each bite was a burst of deliciousness that left me wanting more.

If you’re in the mood for some satisfying hotpot, you can’t go wrong with Wha Rong’s hotpot delicacies. Recently, they’ve introduced a Mala Hotpot set for four people, and it’s packed with an incredible selection of ingredients.

We were blown away by the variety of ingredients included in the set, such as succulent Tiger Prawns, savory Toman Fish Slices, juicy Lamb Slices, Spicy Chicken Slices, Premium Prawn Paste, Premium Fishball, Vege Fishabll Taupok, Snow Crabstick, White Silky Taufoo, Fish & Soy Beancurd, Organic Vege Basket, Cocktail Sausage and Ring Roll.

We also got to select two different soup bases for our hotpot, and we went for the Si Chuan Mala Soup and Chicken Collagen Bone Broth. The Si Chuan Mala Soup was a standout for us, bursting with bold and spicy flavors that paired perfectly with the variety of ingredients in the hotpot. It was a delightful and satisfying hotpot experience that we can’t wait to have again!

Overall Experience

If you’re looking for a place to satisfy your food cravings without breaking the bank, Wha Rong is definitely a must-visit! Not only do they serve delicious food, but their prices are also affordable. Another great thing about this restaurant is that it’s halal, so it’s a perfect place to gather with your Muslim friends.

Located conveniently behind KFC in the Old Wing of 1 Utama, Wha Rong is easily accessible for everyone. Whether you’re in the mood for some hot and spicy Mala Hotpot or some mouth-watering Chicken Dumpling Soup, you’re guaranteed to find something to satisfy your taste buds here.

So don’t wait any longer, gather your friends and head on over to Wha Rong for an unforgettable dining experience.
