A Culinary Celebration of Our Chefs’ Best Kept Family Recipes this Ramadan Season

February 15, 2023 by StrawberrY Gal

Ramadan experience in the past few years, especially those with family, has been quite different for many of us — results of a pandemic that lingered longer than we could have ever imagined. This upcoming Ramadan season, as we yearns to re-ignite the true spirit of Ramadan, which is all about family and the warmth of sharing food, Element Kuala Lumpur will be presenting the ‘Citarasa Warisan Element’ Dinner Buffet. From 25 March 2023 onwards, patrons are invited to bring their families to ‘buka puasa’ at TRACE Restaurant and Bar overlooking picturesque night views of Kuala Lumpur, whilst enjoying a wide selection of iftar staples prepared using time-honored recipes that draw inspiration from our chefs’ very own ancestral kitchens.

Malaysian food culture has always been reputable not only for its vast diversity, but also various cooking styles and cuisines from different states. Especially for this Ramadan season, signature recipes from chefs originated from 7 different states, were transported from their home kitchens straight to TRACE in delivering an indigenous buffet experience like-no-other, all the while cherishing their very own origins and family heritages.

To recreate the lively dining atmosphere and to elicit the excitement of going to a bazaar Ramadan with family, guests will be greeted by a line-up of themed stations and 5 live action pop-up stalls at TRACE, including Kerabu Warisan Malaysia, Sup Kedah Piaw, Biryani Kaki Kambing, Masak Lemak Cili Padi in Claypot, Local & Western Bakar-Bakar, Hidangan Klasik Turn-Temurun and Pemanis Mulut Tradisi Sepanjang Zaman stations.

As a proud native of Batu Pahat, Johor —famous for its Nasi Biryani, Chef Helmi Jantan’s personal take on the Biryani Kaki Kambing, cooked using his family recipe is in a league of its own. Spiced to perfection, this one-pot goodness that pairs moist and tender roasted lamb leg with aromatic rice, is nothing short of mouth-watering.

An all-time Malay favourite, Masak Lemak Cili Padi in Claypot by Chef Idris Yusof from Alor Gajah, Melaka is here to spice up the evening. Instead of following conventional cooking style and using proteins like chicken or prawns, Chef Idris has opted for a combination of smoked meat, including beef, duck and quail for a change of taste this year. Diners will be amazed to find out how well their natural savory tastes complement the spicy, velvety coconut and turmeric broth.

Carnivorous eaters are in for a treat at the Local & Western Bakar-Bakar station helmed by Chef Azam Ahmad from Kedah. Highlight includes the succulent Slow Roasted BBQ Beef Short Ribs that boasts a sweet and smoky taste that comes from the ribs through the slow cooking process. While Baked Norwegian Salmon is also another must-have, diners can further choose from chicken, beef, lamb, fish and sausages to be grilled à la minute to assemble their very own BBQ platter.

Other not-to-be-missed specialties prepared using our chefs’ family-inherited recipes include:

  •  Rendang Ayam Bonda with Lemang Bakar by Chef Hasrul from Perak
  • Ayam Bakar Percik by Chef Zamri from Kelantan
  •   Daging Pesamah by Chef Eirfan from Penang
  •  Ikan Masak Asam Pedas by Chef Fitri from Johor
  •  Udang Butter by Chef Hwan from Pahang

A galore of ever-popular desserts, such as traditional kuih-muih, kuih raya, assorted cakes and patisseries, fresh local fruits, Ais Batu Campur and Ais Kacang will also be served to suit everyone’s sweet tooth.

Priced at RM 168 nett per adult and RM84 rnett per child, the ‘Citarasa Warisan Element’ Dinner Buffet will start from 6:30pm to 10pm, between 25 March and 20 April 2023. Early bird offer at RM125 nett per adult can be enjoyed by booking on or before 24 March 2023. Club Marriott members, as well as Maybank and CIMB card holders will receive a 20% off the dinner buffet.
