Ladies Socie-Tea in Celebration of Women with YWCA Vocational Training Opportunity Centre (VTOC) at New World Petaling Jaya Hotel

March 4, 2021 by StrawberrY Gal

On the 8th of March, we celebrate International Women’s Day, dedicated in honour of women all around the world. This year’s theme #ChooseToChallenge, references all of us who are able to choose to challenge and call out gender bias and inequality. We can all choose to seek out and celebrate women’s’ achievements. Collectively, we can all help create an inclusive world!

With this realisation, New World Petaling Jaya Hotel will be teaming up with YWCA Vocational Training Opportunity Centre (VTOC) this March in conjunction with International Women’s Day to  celebrate women’s achievements and raise awareness against bias and gender equality. The YWCA Vocational Training Opportunity Centre (VTOC) is a project of the YWCA of Kuala Lumpur which celebrated its 100th Anniversary in 2013. The VTOC was established in 1998 to provide vocational skills training for young women and girls from the economically disadvantaged sectors of our community, irrespective of ethnicity, religion, social and cultural differences.

Throughout the entire month of March, guests can look forward to the “Ladies Socie-Tea” at New World Petaling Jaya Hotel and embrace a magnificent setting that radiates elegance, transforming a traditional tea experience into a rendezvous of indulgence for everyone at our stylish lobby lounge or sky-high lounge. More importantly, guests can also be heartened as they enjoy the delectable spread knowing that they are contributing towards a benevolent cause.

Inspired by the classic and prestige culture, our Pastry Chef, Sukumaran creates the Afternoon Tea with a selection of savoury finger sandwiches, sweet pastries, homemade fruit tarts and many more.

The Ladies themed Afternoon Tea Set comprises eight savouries and eight sweets, each tinged withcharacteristic hues. Tapping on all-natural ingredients such as strawberries and raspberries, Chef Sukumaran eschews the use of any artificial flavourings. The main highlight is the one-of-a-kind hand painted high heels accompanied with fresh strawberries and flowers in celebration of women.

Composed into petite bites, the savoury selection includes Beef Bresaola and Shaved Parmesan on Toasted Baguette; Avocado Mash and Quail Egg on Brioche; Smoked Salmon and Sambal Cream Cheese Wraps and Chicken Salad Slider.

The three-tiered Afternoon Tea Set is priced at RM138 nett, served with coffee or tea. For each tea set sold, 10% of all proceeds from the “Ladies Socie-Tea” will be channelled towards VTOC to empower women by providing much needed skills training for underprivileged young women and girls from economically disadvantaged families.
