Sanmo Izakaya @ Ipoh: Worthy Omakase Meal!

November 16, 2019 by StrawberrY Gal

A hidden jewel in Ipoh for some Japanese delights. It is my first time visiting them but I will definitely come back for more. Located just walking distance from Artworks Hotel Ipoh, the restaurant comes pretty unique where they do only omakase during dinner.

And what’s more special and attracted me is where booking is compulsory and they are always packed even weekdays. Headed by a local chef who have been in Japan for years, the restaurant brings you with their delicious choices of omakase delights starting from RM 165 per pax.

We started our meal with their delicious bowl of Japanese Steamboat where they are packed with the delectable and yet luxurious style of steamboat. Using the miso soup base, the bowl of steamboat is packed with the seafood ingredients from scallops, fish meat, clams, Japanese scallops and many more. The soup comes simply sweet with the complete freshness of seafood in it.  Served together with their homemade noodles. Delighting!

Then we are served with their Durian Mochi. The little mochi served cold with the creamy oozy durian fresh in the middle. Heavenly goodness.

Next we have the tender juicy duck which is perfectly slow cooked till perfection and then pan fried with the crispy skin. The duck comes awesomely good where you can taste the fragrant char taste with it without any gammy taste at all. And what’s more is they are served with the deliciously crispy ice vegetables.

And it does not stop yet, we also enjoyed this awesomely delicious Takoyaki together with their deep fried wanton. Enjoy both of the crispy bites and every mouthful is good.

Next, we enjoyed this huge boat that is filled with the sashimi. Grab  the thick cut of raw fish from salmon, kampachi, maguro , crab, oysters and prawns. Each of it comes amazingly fresh and every mouthful  is divinely good.

We ended with the unagi rice. The unagi rice comes complete with the chunky juicy unagi on top. Each of it just comes with the perfect blend and aromatic taste of unagi.

And finally, we ended with the mochi ice cream. This is really insanely delicious where once a bite, you can taste the icy blend of ice cream in it together with the smooth mochi.

For those who are looking for a worth-while Omakase meal in Ipoh, this is one of the must to recommend as they not only brings you with great dishes but is worth for every penny as well.
