Hilton Kuala Lumpur Donated RM9,000.00 To The Malaysian Foundation For The Blind In Conjunction With World Sight Day

October 16, 2019 by StrawberrY Gal

In conjunction with World Sight Day, an annual day of awareness held on the second Thursday of October, to focus global attention on blindness and vision impairment, Hilton Kuala Lumpur donated RM9,000.00 to the Malaysian Foundation for the Blind (MFB). The act of  hospitality was an extension of Hilton’s centennial celebrations in South East Asia this year.

Held during Hilton’s annual Global Week of Service, team members joined forces to ensure this fundraising effort was a success. For 100 years, Hilton has seen a world that can be made better through genuine hospitality. Hilton Kuala Lumpur’s efforts are a part of Hilton’s weeklong celebration, recognising the company’s year-round commitment to serving and enriching the communities where team members live, work, and travel.

Representatives from Hilton Kuala Lumpur presented the mock cheque to the YB Lembah Pantai on Sunday, 13 October 2019. A reflection of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) commitment to the community, the generous contribution was a concerted effort between the 5-star hotel and its team members. The funds garnered resulted in the purchase of 200 white walking canes for the visually impaired.

As a national nonprofit foundation, MFB is a local champion whose mission lies in making life better for blind and partially sighted people in Malaysia, as well raising awareness, and creating skills and vocational training programs.

“Over the last century, being the most hospitable company in the world has been a core focus for us here at Hilton, and it is this part of our DNA that has inspired us to perform these ‘Acts of Hospitality’ throughout our communities during our milestone centennial year. Malaysia represents a significant part of our presence in South East Asia and as a company of our scale and heritage, we have a responsibility to do our part for the communities we operate in,” said Mr. Jamie Mead, Regional General Manager, Malaysia, Philippines and Vietnam, Hilton.

Community celebrations and engagements are set to continue across South East Asia throughout the rest of Hilton’s 100th year.
