Black Kettle @ Georgetown

July 31, 2019 By StrawberrY Gal - Food Review, Invited Review Leave a Comment

Black Kettle is always one of the places which features bakery, café and bistro in one goal and at the upstairs, they do offer flexible catering packages for events as well.

The café is opened back in 2015 where they are located along the pre-war houses which is over 100 years. Just a few box away from Ghee Hiang Pastry, their interior comes simply cosy with the light greenery feel. We are there on weekends and they are almost packed with locals and tourist too.

With the joining of a new Chef, they had come up with their intensive new menu which comes superbly good and mind blowing.  We started our meals with the variety choices of food which definitely making me coming back for more.

Baby Octopus & Angel Hair Pasta (RM 30)

Their pasta is impressively good where the chef made a good pasta though where their angel hair noodles are perfectly cooked till al-dente.  The plate of pasta completely irresistible where its brings up the flavours of creamy broth with the twist of light hint of lemongrass taste in it. They are served with the sambal with it. If you would love to have some kick to it, add some sambal to give a kick to it.

Peri Peri Chicken (RM 24)

Their Peri Peri Chicken is somehow my favourite dish of the day. The meat was perfectly marinated where you can taste the flavours of it and sides with the fresh garden salad. The meat comes juicy and tender in texture and they are well-balanced with their homemade Peri Peri Sauce by the side.

Heh Bee Prawn Pasta (RM 31)

This is another favourite of mine. The Penang’s Dried Prawns cooked al-dente with the spaghetti and served with the heh bee crumble, cili padi, and also the marinated tiger prawns. The pasta comes simply good and addictive, where it   gives some bites of crunchiness and the heh bee is perfectly paired with the overall dish.

Lamb Shank (RM 49)

The 18 hours sous vide Lamb Shank comes really good with no gammy taste but the juiciness of the lamb shank remains. Served together with the spiced Cardamom Sauce, Roasted Garlic and Herbs Mash. Sided with the crispy lotus roots chips.

Bread & Curry (RM 22)

The great combination of dish to look for here. It is impressively delicious bread together with the creamy curry broth. The taste is something like Dhal but is richer in taste . Goes well with their homemade bread.

Bouillabaisse (RM  31)

One can also enjoy some French Delights here too. The flavourful bowl of soup which is packed with the generous portion of the seafood stew. One can enjoy the broth which is complete with the squids, tiger prawns, fish, and the New Zealand Mussel. You can enjoy them together with their home-made toast bread which comes divinely good where the bread is perfectly soaked with the flavours in it.

Creamy Mushroom (RM 18)

One of the dish which I am also impressed. The Creamy Mushroom Soup is served with the generous amount of shitake mushroom. The soup brings you is served with the thick broth with the great hint of mushroom in it. Not juts that, they are complete with the spicy hint and nice herbs taste which I am totally indulged with it.

Dutch Apple Pie + Ice Cream (RM 14)

As for their desserts, one can enjoy a wide variety choice of pastries and cakes here. The Dutch Apple Pie + Ice Cream comes uniquely delicious as it brings you with the fluffy texture and yet very fragrant apple taste in it. Completely double thumbs up!

 Pandan Panna Cotta

The Pandan Panna Cotta had won our hearts too. Not just a normal panna cotta, the panna cotta is filled with the aromatic pandan flavours. The taste is just so good and well paired with the gula melaka which is poured on top.

And of course, one can enjoy the warm and hearty coffee to accompany the meal as well.
