Savour the Flavours of Spring

March 27, 2019 by StrawberrY Gal

The Sukhothai Shanghai’s Italian restaurant La Scala and stylish venue The ZUK Bar present refreshing new menus to welcome the season of blossoming and renewal, along with “Gourmet Delights” accommodation package to make another perfect option for guests seeking a springtime holiday with exciting culinary experiences.

Springtime Renaissance Garden at La Scala

La Scala’s menu revolves around the changing seasons. The spring menu continues to abide by the restaurant’s sustainable practices, using wholesome ingredients such as fresh, organic fruits and vegetables, tender M5 Wagyu beef, flavourful Parma ham and premium seafood. Slow-cooked Australian Wagyu beef M5 with barley dressing, homemade pickles and black truffle is a balanced dish, with seasonal vegetables that are pickled using traditional Italian family recipes to perfectly complement the full-bodied flavour and tenderness of the steak. Burrata cheese and lettuce asparagus trio is inspired by Chinese ingredients new to Chef Stefano; the stem and leaves of the lettuce asparagus are roasted and pickled, the peel of the lettuce asparagus is then cooked to a creamy state, and paired with burrata cheese to present a unique texture. Carnaroli rice “my way” is a warm and appetising dish beautifully blushed by the rosy tint of beetroots. Grilled arctic char with Jerusalem artichoke and cabbage leaves is made from arctic char from the springs of Chengdu for a unique, refreshing flavour. Eggplant parmigiana is paired with red gurnard and served with glazed mulled wine and eggplant foam, presenting something extraordinary with a combination of everyday ingredients.

Explore the Wonders of Nature at The ZUK Bar

The ZUK Bar’s new menu is defined by a line that divides the sky from the earth to reflect the flavours from all living forms. The list explores an array of fragrant botanicals, flowers and other living forms along this line, and extract the purest essences to create innovative concoctions that depict the true taste of nature. Wormwood boasts smooth, creamy notes from coconut, and is combined with fresh, fragrant bamboo sorbet and bitter, aromatic wormwood for rich flavour. Olive is composed of pink grapefruit and olive liqueur to bring guests to the sunny Amalfi coast. Green Clay is highlighted by edible French green clay distilled and purified to produce fresh, earthy and spirit-forward notes. Fruity and flamboyant, Ginseng brings together the sweet and spicy flavours of fermented maraschino and sherbet made from hosui pear juice and ginseng pulp.

URBAN Lounge’s Gin Library has also been upgraded with new gin types, now boasting a collection of 120 gins. Guests can taste four types of gins at once with the new “Gin Degustation” menu. Other delectable dining options at The Sukhothai Shanghai include URBAN Café, the Southeast Asian eatery, and Beans & Grapes, a recharging station offering healthy, light meals and freshly-baked pastries.

“Gourmet Delights” Accommodation Package

To make the most of this beautiful season, The Sukhothai Shanghai presents the “Gourmet Delights” accommodation package (priced from RMB 4,838), including a two-night stay at the hotel’s relaxing, eco-friendly guest rooms, and a full culinary experience at the property’s five dining outlets.
