Uniquely Thai for CNY @ Rama V

January 30, 2019 by StrawberrY Gal

Looking for something unique this Chinese New Year?  If you are looking for some spicy sensation this upcoming Chinese New Year, you should now book your table with Rama V.

Rama V Restaurant is one of the popular Thai Restaurant in town where the restaurant is named under the king of Thailand. Since its inception in 1995, Rama V has been recognized with a string of awards. Amongst a few to mention, Rama V was rated one of Malaysia’s best restaurant by Malaysia Tatler’s Magazine for several years; a recommended restaurant by Expatriate Lifestyle magazine; and also achieved the Top Food 40 status by Time Out Kuala Lumpur.

And this time, Rama V comes up with their exclusive Chinese New Year course which definitely a twist to the normal Chinese 8 course dinner.

Loh Hei Yee Sang ( add RM 88)

We started off with the Yee Sang. The Yee Sang comes comes simply unique and they are packed with the flavours. The combination of Thai and Chinese makes the yee sang complete with the robust taste where they are topped with the Thai Fish Cake, Duck Meat, Coconut Flakes, pineapple, cubes of strawberries, slices of fresh young mango and also some scallops. Toss them with the light spiciness homemade chef yee sang sauce which bring us the overall taste. The yee sang comes simply uniquely good with the bursting flavourful taste which combines the sweet, spicy and sweet with it.

Golden Shrimp Tom Kha

Next, we are served with the hot and spicy tom yam soup. The pipping bowl of spicy tom yam soup are packed with coconut milk, oyster, mushroom, lemongrass, stuffed prawn ball and shrimp roe. The soup comes rich and fragrant with the hint of lemongrass and the tom yam in it.

Steamed Seabass with Tom Khong Sauce

The fresh seabass is perfectly served hot with the kick of the spiciness from the chili padi added to it. The seabass texture comes flaky and every mouthful comes with aromatic kick of spiciness and sourish blend. Love every mouth

Stir Fried Tiger Prawns with Lemongrass and Lychee Salad

The fresh tiger prawns are perfectly stir fried till perfection with the aromatic lemongrass which is infused in it. The prawns comes simply delicious and fresh and to make the overall dish even more mouthwatering.

Deep Fried Crispy Duck with Morning Glory & Roasted Tomato Chili Paste

The Duck is perfectly marinated with their chef’s secret recipe sauce and then it is deep fried till crispiness. The duck is well flavoured but to my surprises the meat comes simply moist and juicy and the skin comes crispy. Not just that, there is no gamy smell as well. Served with the Roasted Tomato Chili Paste which is perfectly well blend with the duck itself.

Stir Fried Brussels Sprout with Sea Scallops in Thai Royal Sauce

Ends with some vegetables. The Stir Fried Brussels Sprout together with the Sea Scallops comes with the light flavours. The scallops come pulpy in the size and with the Thai Royal Sauce added to it, it makes a great combination.  And of course have your meal with their wholesome fragrant Steamed Thai Berry Jasmine Rice.

 The Triple Joy

Ends your meal with their creative and yet beautifully presented desserts. The Triple Joy is the desserts with 3 choices which is the Jasmine Mango Panna Cotta, Pandan Crème Dumplings, Ja Mong Kud (Egg Yolk Dumpling in Wheat Flour Crown). The desserts come with the beautiful sight and one of my favorite is of course their signature Ja Mong Kud. Ja Mong Kud is a dessert that is created to serve the king and we are honoured to get a try of this dessert. It is beautifully crafted and the dessert come just like an art piece.

And in Rama V , The Chinese New Year Set comes with 2 choices where one  is the Fortune Set which is at RM 468 ( 5-6 pax) while the Prosperity Set is at RM 968 ( 8-10 pax). For more information, contact them at 03-2143 2428
