FOOK @ Jalan Sultan Ismail : Have A Romantic CNY Celebration Here!

January 26, 2019 by StrawberrY Gal

FOOK , another new addition to the Tamarind Restaurant Group. FOOK is one of the latest contemporary Asian restaurant where it is located at the hilltop of the hidden jewel in KL City.  The restaurant comes with the great ambiance and one of the highlights here is the eye-catching and beautiful Asian lady mural when you step in the restaurant.
On her back, you can spot the Chinese Word 福 (fook) which means blessing.  Helmed by Chef Sombat Kokasemkul who is a chef with loads of experience, he reinvents the menus with the combination of China, Japan, Korea and Southeast Asia. He puts his spin on them and make the dishes to  another level.
And this year, you can celebrate your Chinese New Year at FOOK where they have come up with their 6 Course Menu which is available from 14 January 2019 onwards till 20th February 2019.
The Yee Sang comes with a twist where you can have the FOOK’s Fresh Salmon Yee Sang which is infused with some Thai flavours in it. The Yee Sang completes with generous portion of ingredients and fresh vegetables and then topped with the tamarind plum sauce with the sesame seeds. It brings up the kick of spiciness but it is so addictive. The Yee Sang comes with 2 sizes where RM 88++ is for the medium size while the large one is at RM 118++
After the awesome yee sang, we started off with the Amuse Bouche which is the Mushroom Bao. The Mushroom Bao comes simply adorable and looks a like the mushroom, but they are filled with the diced mushroom in it.
Next, we had the Trio of Appetizers. This is where the appetizers comes with the mini cone with tuna tartare, century egg with cucumber salad and kimchi to whet our appetite. I am just loving the mini cone which comes simply cute and the tuna tartare is perfectly good.

Seafood bisque with deep fried lobster tail
Inspired by Malaysia’s Assam Laksa, the seafood soup comes simply appetizing which gave us with the light sourish taste in it. Topped with the crispy tempura on top of the lady fingers.

Steamed sea bass served with ginger soy sauce and long-life noodle
The Steamed Sea Bass comes deliciously good and it is topped on top of the long-life noodles. The sea bass comes fresh and good and with the added long-life noodles is just nice to symbolized the theme of Chinese new year.
Moving next, one can choose to either go for the duck or chicken for the main course. Choose either the Roasted honey duck served with kailan, mushroom and mandarin orange sauce or the Chicken confit served with ginger fried rice.
As for me, I love the duck. The Roasted Honey Duck is perfectly roasted with the moist and juicy meat but outside remains it crispiness. The meat is perfectly good and they are beautifully side with the kalian and mushroom. Together with it is the tangy mandarin orange sauce which enhanced the overall flavours.
As for the chicken, the chicken confit is beautifully served with their homemade ginger garlic rice and chilly sauce.
We ended our meal with the lovely desserts which is the heavenly combination of both black sesame and green tea. The Sesame panna cotta served with green tea ice cream is a perfect combination and absolutely delicious.
The Chinese New Year delights are priced at RM188++ per couple. For those who are looking for a romantic dining this Chinese New Year in the lush ambiance, FOOK would be your choice.
