3M and 11street Host Charity Badminton Clinic to Launch

April 29, 2017 by StrawberrY Gal

After two successful runs under the banner ‘Drinking Water Week’, 3M continues to advocate drinking water for the third year in a row. Partnering with 11street, one of the largest e-malls in Malaysia, 3M upped the intensity of sharing the importance of staying hydrated by hosting a charity badminton clinic, which was held at SJK(C) Choong Wen, in which 35 children from Rumah Victory Children & Youth Home and Pure Life Society took part.

“Drinking Water Week is the brainchild of 3M that took flight in 2015 through the education of our younger generations at Julia Gabriel Centre. The year after, we decided to reach out to the nation by introducing Drinking Water Week to consumers at 1Utama Shopping Centre, Petaling Jaya. Now, our aspiration is to sustain the outreach we have with the nation, at the same time, help the less fortunate,” said Parameswaran Nair, Managing Director of 3M Malaysia. “This year, we aim to not only spread education on the benefits of drinking water, but also connect and build bridges amongst the Malaysian community. Today’s collaboration with 11street to host this charity badminton clinic allows us to connect with the less fortunate, give back to society and advocate the benefits of drinking water. With over 75 years of filtration expertise, 3M is committed to continue advocating the importance of drinking clean, filtered water”

Bruce Lim, Vice President of Merchandising Division for 11street said: “We are humbled to partner with 3M through its annual ‘Drinking Water Week’ initiative for the second year. We believe that this charity badminton clinic is an effective way to help the less fortunate, by connecting them with a sport that the nation loves. With this, we not only advocate the benefits of drinking water but also use this platform as an opportunity to give back to charity.”

Badminton Coaching for the Underprivileged

Badminton, one of Malaysia’s most-loved sport, is vigorous in nature and requires high athleticism and stamina. Under its mask of fun is a lot of sweating, which causes the loss of fluids resulting in dehydration. Without proper hydration, any sport can be quite exhausting, which is why drinking water is crucial to staying healthy and maintaining the function of every system in one’s body, including your heart, brain, and muscles.[1]

To reiterate the importance of staying hydrated, badminton coach Muhammad Hafiz Hashim showed the basic rudiments of a good badminton game to underprivileged children. Also on-site were Kenichi Tago, a badminton player from Japan, and Jansen Yeoh, a strength and conditioning coach.

Yeoh also shared health tips at the event: “It is important to stay hydrated throughout the day to ensure that your body is getting the water dosage it needs to function at optimal levels. Water is the best for hydration as it does not contain sugar or carbohydrates, yet effectively quenches thirst.”

Never a sleeker design for your countertop

DS02-CG淨水器At the badminton clinic, 3M Malaysia took the opportunity to introduce its latest technologically-advanced product – the 3M Countertop Drinking Water System CTM-02. The CTM-02 has a high-water flow rate of up to 2.8 litres per minute, filters up to 14,000 glasses, and comes encased in futuristic designs with easy installation. One of its main features – the Sanitary Quick Change (SQC) –highlights the ease to replace a filter cartridge in 10 seconds. It has a cartridge life indicator, which enables consumers to check when the next cartridge change is due. The CTM-02 filter cartridge is tested and certified by NSF standards 42 and 53. Consumers can “Trust in Every Drop” because of the science that is behind 3M water filters.

Bundles of 3M Joy on 11street

3M kicks off Drinking Water Week with deals that are available on 11street with downloadable 15% discount vouchers applicable for use at the 3M e-store. Because the promotions run through the whole month of May, it has been dubbed ‘3M Month’. For two weeks, the 3M Countertop Drinking Water System CTM-02 will be featured on 11street alongside the other water filters that 3M has to offer. There will also be special promotions for other 3M brands such as 3M AutoFilm, 3M Auto Care, Scotch-Brite™, Command™ and more.

“We are always delighted to partner with brands, as it gives us the opportunity to expand our product offerings for the shopping enjoyment of our consumers. With over 10 million products and more than 30,000 sellers on our platform, 11street is excited to have 3M on-board working together with us to offer more high quality products to Malaysians from all walks of life,” Lim added.
3M and 11street Advocate Charity through E-commerce

3M and 11street drive its charity initiative through a digitised rock, paper and scissors game which aspires to garner the participations of 150,000 Malaysians. Playing more will help unlock a donation of a supply of water filter cartridges for up to 5 years for Rumah Victory Children & Youth Home and Pure Life Society respectively. Participants of the game also stand a chance to win the 3M™ Countertop Drinking Water System CTM-01 as a reward for their efforts.

Parameswaran concluded: “As advocates of drinking clean, filtered water, we thought to channel our products to a good cause through this charity drive. The idea behind the game is to allow members of the public to also be a part of Drinking Water Week in a fun and interactive way. As such, we encourage more Malaysians to take part in this game, so that we can help the underprivileged and provide them with the tools that give them access to clean drinking water, right from their tap.”

The 3M Countertop Drinking Water System CTM-02 retails for RM1,180 and comes with a one-year warranty.
