Sapore @ Ampang: Hidden Jewel of Italian Spanish Delights

March 7, 2017 by StrawberrY Gal

A hidden jewel in Ampang, a place for good food, good accompany and one of our new favourites now. Located just next to La Risata, Sapore brings you with the taste of Italian and Chef Fabio strives to pack plenty to the latest new casual dining restaurant with Italian and Spanish cooking.
About Chef Fabio Ruggiero
Chef Fabio Ruggiero; the man behind the awesome Spanish delights originated from Bari; the capital city of Italy’s Puglia region and graduated from the Professional Institute of Hospitality, Molfetta (BA) Italy. Being a young passionate chef, he had worked as Chef de Partie at  5-stars hotels and some of the best restaurants worldwide, such as Relais La Suvera & Hotel Caruso, Hotel Eden (*1 Michelin Stars) in Italy and (Getti Restaurant) London. And now he have his own restaurant called Sapore.
All about the chef and now is time to see what Sapore brings you.
Focaccia
Start of with Focaccia where this flat oven-baked Italian bread product topped with herbs with it. Seasoned with olive oil. The bread is simply fragrant and I am just loving it
Antipasti Tagliere for Sharing (RM 88)
The beautifully presented platter that completes with the Chorinzo Pork Sausage, Salchichon Spanish Sausage, Parma Ham, Capocollo Salami, Porchetta Pork Roast, Rillettes, and pickled vegetables. The platter are amazingly good and me who are not a big fans of antispasti also fall in love with the lovely platter. Nicely done with the complete freshness!
Lardo Flavoured Tuscany Pork Lard (RM25)
Must have here is the Thin slices of pork fat which is well seasoned with the rock salt and black pepper. Aged for two months; it give you with the melt-in-the-mouth true Italian delicacy.
Potato Cake Apulia Style (RM 14)

Baby Octopus Stewed with Tomato (RM 22)
In Sapore, they served a wide variety of tapas to die for. Enjoy the awesome bites of tapas where you can enjoy the Potato Cake Apulia Style (RM 14), Eggplant Parmigiana Style (RM 18) , Pork Ribs Barbecue Sauce (RM 25) and many more.  For those who prefer the tang of light sourish, try the baby octopus stewed with tomato where I can assured that you will definitely come back for more.
Beet root and Queso de Cabra (RM 14)
Looking for some cold tapas, no worries where they have much too offer. From Spanish Olives Green (RM 12), Beef Tendons, Red Onion, Vinaigrette (RM 25) , Anchovies Marinated in Olive Oil (RM 22) to name a few. One of their best seller is the Beet root and Queso de Cabra  where it is indeed the healthy dish to go for.
Roasted suckling pig  porchetta (Half : RM 198 / Full: RM 368)
This is a must to try here and I am indeed impressed how chef had made this delicious sucking pig. Chef made is so perfect where both of us can finish the half portion of it for sure. The suckling pig is indeed well done with the moist and juicy meat and the skin comes crackling crispy. Oh my!
1.1 kg Dry-Aged T-Bone Grain-Feed with Sea Salt Fiorentina Style, Served with Potato and Rucola Salad (RM 238)
For big groups ; one of their signature to order is of course the T-Bone Grain Feed with the Sea Salt Fiorentina Style, Served with Potato and Rucola Salad. Not just that, they do serves good selection of affordable mains too where one can enjoy some spaghetti and mains here.  Some of the selection includes Spaghetti Pork Bolognese (RM 26),  Spaghetti Aglio Olio Crumbs & Anchovies Pecorino and Baby Tomatoes (RM 26), Rigatoni Rosticciana Tube Pasta & Stewed Iberico Pork  Ribs, Tomatoes (RM 38) to name a few.

Tiramisu (RM20)
One of my favourite and I am craving for another plate. The tiramisu is well infused with coffee and Kahlua in it. Perfectly done with the great hint of Kahlua, just a right one for a tiramisu. Awesomelicious!

Spritz Italiano with Aperol or Campari with Soda Water
(RM 32)
Sediric gin with mint and rosemary leave (RM 42)
Not just that, Sapore also brings you with wide selection of cocktails too. Overall, Sapore is indeed a great place not to be missed for Italian and Spanish delights. I am impressed overall with the food !
