A Taste of Nostalgia: Old Hong Kong Afternoon Tea Buffet at Cafe Marco, Marco Polo Hongkong Hotel

January 17, 2017 by StrawberrY Gal

From a small fishing village to today’s bustling metropolis, Hong Kong has experienced a miraculous transformation. On the flipside, many elements of traditional culture and lifestyle are being forgotten in the rush to modernise. From now until 28 February 2017, Cafe Marco brings back a nostalgic taste of Hong Kong. The Old Hong Kong Afternoon Tea Buffet features a selection of beloved traditional delicacies and refreshments. Each guest may also enjoy a complimentary free flow of fruit juices.

Among the classic starters, are Sour spicy soup, Herbal tea-infused egg, and savoury Deep-fried wonton with sweet and sour sauce. Deep-fried eggplant, bell pepper and bean curd with stuffing and the tasty Pan-fried pork dumpling will also be available. Enjoy the daily signature Dim Sum selection showcasing authentic Har gau, Steamed beef ball, Sticky rice in lotus leaf and BBQ pork bun.

Diners may select their favourite ingredients from the ‘Che chai noodle’ counter including Curry fish ball, Beef tripe, Beef brisket, Pig skin, Red sausage, Chicken sausage and White turnip.

Indulge in a variety of sweet childhood favourites, such as Black sesame roll, White sugar cake, Put chai ko (red bean pudding) and Coconut mango sago pudding. Classics like the Pineapple bun with butter and Egg tart complete a delicious homage to the authentic flavours of Old Hong Kong.
