Captain’s Bar Offers Authentic Indian Delicacie

September 28, 2016 by StrawberrY Gal

Captain’s Bar at Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong is not only the perfect spot for cocktails and draught beer at the end of the day, but also a place for gastronomes who crave authentic Indian specialties. Delicately prepared by Chef Satpal Sharma, a key member of the culinary team for over 15 years, highlights on the new seasonal lunch menu include chicken tikka makhani, Indian lamb curry, prawn madras, fish masala, and matar paneer. Guests who order the three-tier tiffin can also enjoy the curry with basmati rice, naan bread, mango chutney and raita. Lunch is served weekdays with prices starting from HKD 288.

For those who relish the lively ambiance of Captain’s Bar with evening live jazz and blues performances from Monday to Saturday, they are invited to complement their experience with a range of delectable Indian snacks, including lamb samosa, tandoori spiced chicken wings, cheese pakora, spinach bhaji, Bombay pav and aloo patties, with prices starting from HKD 118.

“The complexity of flavours and exotic ingredients in Indian cuisine are an inspiration to my cooking,” Chef Sharma explains. “To understand Indian cuisine you must have a respect for balancing spices and allow them to shine in each dish as well as an appreciation for tradition and regional techniques.”
