YAP TEMPLE @ PENANG

May 2, 2016 by StrawberrY Gal

Another beautiful temple in Penang is Yap Temple which  is the clan temple of the Lum Yeong Tong Yap Kongsi, located next to it. The clan temple is located at the corner of Armenian Street and Cannon Street, in the core zone of the George Town UNESCO World Heritage Site.
This tiny but beautiful temple is dedicated to the Chinese god of prosperity. It was formerly the base of the Tua Pek Kong secret society
run by the Straits Chinese. From afar, Choo Chay Keong Temple is easily recognized by an extensive and colorful ornament of dragons and pearl on its green roof. The fine and intricate stone craving are demonstrated on its wall and pillars as well
Visiting hours: Open daily
Entrance fee: Free
Address: Lebuh Armenian, 10450 George Town, Pulau Pinang,
Malaysia
