TOSCA PRESENTS NEAPOLITAN AFTERNOON TEA IN COLLABORATION WITH MARINELLA

May 27, 2016 By StrawberrY Gal - Food Promotion Leave a Comment

With an unwavering passion for spreading the essence of Italian culture through his highly celebrated cuisine, Chef Pino Lavarra of Michelin-starred Tosca has never lost touch of devotion to quality and the ultimate in elegance. Bonding over a shared commitment to luxury craftsmanship, Tosca and Marinella, an Italian designer brand acclaimed as the epitome of a gentleman’s tie, are set to launch an exclusive afternoon tea, available every Saturday from June 18 to July 23, 2016. Inspired by Naples, Marinella’s origin, the delicately crafted afternoon tea will surprise even the most spoiled palate with authentic Neapolitan sweet and savory bites.

Established in 1914, Marinella symbolizes class, tradition and Italian heritage. The brand has upheld its dedication to craftsmanship throughout the century despite experiencing difficult times during the two World Wars and the changing course of history. Marinella believes that a gentleman shows his true personality through the way he knots his tie, hence ties are the best representation of men’s elegance. Marinella’s signature bespoke services offer guests expert advice from specialists from Naples and made-to-measure ties tailored to perfection in Italy.

Neapolitan cuisine originated from the Greco-Roman period and has been refined by heavy influences of Arab, Norman, Spanish and French cultures throughout the course of history. The Neapolitan Afternoon Tea pays homage to this time-honored cuisine with a scrumptious selection of traditional Neapolitan favorites. With ingredients resembling the colors of the national flag – red (Sorrento tomato), white (mozzarella cheese) and green (basil), “Babà with Salami and Mozzarella Cheese” is a tribute to Italy and the city of Naples. Fondly referred to as “Pizza Capital of the World,” Naples is synonymous with pizza. Named after Queen Margherita of Savoy, “Pizza Margherita” is an authentic delicacy highlighting the simple yet classic combination of San Marzano tomatoes and mozzarella cheese.

Flakey and savory on the outside and moist and sweet on the inside, “Puff Crispy Cake” will please any food connoisseur with candied lemon, orange and grapefruit zest enveloped in a delicately buttery and airy pastry shell. A traditional Italian treat for Easter, “Grain and Ricotta Cake” is filled with cooked grains, ricotta, orange flower essence and vanilla, and covered with heavenly light shortcrust pastry. “Fruit Ice-Cream Selection” will end the afternoon tea experience on an icy sweet note with fresh pears and figs stuffed with vanilla ice-cream.
