BRITISH ENVOY LAUNCHES SHOPPING IS GREAT AND FOOD IS GREAT CAMPAIGNS

October 8, 2015 by StrawberrY Gal

Malaysians will get to enjoy the best of British retail and food as the British High Commission, UK Trade & Investment and the Hilton Kuala Lumpur jointly launch the Shopping is GREAT and Food is GREAT campaigns in Malaysia. Both these GREAT campaigns are aimed at promoting British brands, food and lifestyle.

The Hilton Kuala Lumpur will be running the Food is GREAT festival during the month of October to celebrate the recent appointment of their British Executive Chef Warren Brown. The month-long British food festival will feature exciting events including a five-course VIP dinner and audience with British celebrity Michelin star chef Gary Rhodes; KL’s largest super brunch; Twinings tea pairing dinner; English afternoon tea buffet and a James Bond extravaganza.

At the launch of the GREAT campaigns Jamie Mead, General Manager of Hilton Kuala Lumpur. He said: “It’s an exciting debut for the team at Hilton Kuala Lumpur. This month-long festival is intended to promote a British lifestyle experience through not only food and beverage, but the different aspects of English offerings. We are constantly innovating to deliver a unique multi-sensory dining experience for our patrons – always seeking new ways to enhance our offerings to create memorable experiences.

This festival is a perfect way to showcase unique representation of British menu(s) and produce in all our dining venues. We will continue to push the boundaries for creative, thought provoking food and beverage offerings, building on to our legacy of creating new guests experiences – pairing great food with impeccable hospitality. As we look to redefine the art of dining, we want to continue staying on top as the venue of choice for dining and entertainment in Kuala Lumpur.”

Participants of the Shopping is GREAT contest stand the chance to win the grand prize of a VIP shopping trip to London for two, inclusive of a four-night stay in Hilton London, two premium economy return flights on British Airways and £1,000 spending money courtesy of CIMB Bank. The VIP “money can’t buy” experiences are: two LUXE tickets to London Fashion Weekend, a VIP shopping day to Bicester Village and a VIP tickets to the football match between Tottenham Hotspur FC and Swansea City AFC.

The Shopping is GREAT campaign is now in its third installation. This year, it is bigger and better than ever before with 70 British brands participating in over 300 stores around Malaysia. When it was first introduced in 2013, there were only 28 British brands and over  100 participating stores. Fans of British brands can enjoy some GREAT British retail therapy over the next three months and try their luck in the Shopping is GREAT contest. They stand the chance to win a “money can’t buy” VIP shopping trip to London and other exclusive prizes.

At the launch of the GREAT campaigns, British High Commissioner to Malaysia H.E. Vicki Treadell CMG MVO, said: “Kuala Lumpur is becoming one of the top shopping destinations in the world and we want to be part of it. British retail brands are doing very well in Malaysia with over 50 per cent of the British retail brands currently here having either expanded their Malaysian footprint or having entered the Malaysian market since we launched our first Shopping is GREAT campaign in Malaysia two years ago.

“This year we are particularly pleased to be partnering with the Hilton Kuala Lumpur to also showcase GREAT British food. During October, Malaysians will have the opportunity to sample some of the UK’s great British dishes complemented by an array of famous British beverages including Twinings tea, Fullers beer and Scotch whisky.” To be in the running for the grand prize, shoppers need only spend RM250 or more in a single purchase at participating outlets and answer a simple question, multiple entries are allowed. The contest runs from now until 31 December 2015. Additionally, CIMB Bank credit, debit or Kwik card users get to double their chances of winning.

The participating British retailers are: Ben Sherman; BHS, Burton Menswear London; Cabin Zero; Cath Kidston; Clarks; Debenhams; Dorothy Perkins; Dr Martens; Early Learning Centre; Fitflop; Fred Perry; French Sole; Hamleys; Harrods; Jo Malone; Joseph Joseph; Kitchen Craft; Laura Ashley; Liverpool Football Club; Lyle & Scott; Marks & Spencer; Miss Selfridge; MODALU England; Morphy Richards; Mothercare; Natural Looks; Neal’s Yard; Newens of London; Next; Outback; Penhaligon’s; Pepe Jeans; Radley London; Royal Albert; Royal  Doulton; Sports Direct; STORM London; Superdry; Ted Baker; The Body Shop; TM Lewin; TONI&GUY; Topman; Topshop; Wallis; Warehouse; Waterford and Wedgwood; as well as the British brands in Robinsons Department Store and on ZALORA online store.
