NOBU CLUB LOUNGE LAUNCHED BY CELEBRITY CHEF NOBU MATSUHISA WITH NOBU KUALA LUMPUR PARTNERS – HRH SULTAN SELANGOR AND TAN SRI SYED YUSOF

April 16, 2015 by StrawberrY Gal

Matsuhisa (known fondly around the world simply as ‘Nobu’), made his first official visit to Nobu Kuala Lumpur.   This milestone occasion was commemorated by the official opening of the chic Nobu Club Lounge by Chef Nobu  Matsuhisa together with Nobu Kuala Lumpur owners, The Sultan of Selangor, HRH Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah  and Tan Sri Syed Mohd Yusof Tun Syed Nasir on March 16.

Around 100 of the city’s top movers and shakers, celebrities, corporate personalities and  style  icons were invited to the exclusive opening ceremony where Nobu’s signature  cocktails and decadent bar bites were showcased. Marked by a traditional ribbon cutting  and auspicious lion dance, guests enjoyed a special moment when the Nobu Kuala Lumpur  owners and management team presented a surprise birthday cake to Chef Nobu who  celebrated his 66 th birthday on 10 th March.

This occasion marked Chef Nobu’s first visit to Kuala Lumpur. “I can feel the vibrant energy  of this city at Nobu Kuala Lumpur. The people here are global  travelers  and appreciate  quality in details, and our location is beautiful. I am confident that Nobu Kuala Lumpur will  be a successful venture as our first Nobu restaurant in Southeast Asia,” remarked Chef  Nobu.

Amid the warm glow of the sleek Club Lounge interiors, guests were invited to experience  Nobu’s special cocktails, namely the Nobu Shochu Dragon, For Gin’s Sake and Matsuhisa  Martini  –  all using Nobu’s own brand of sake. To complement the innovative drinks, gourmet bar bites like Nobu Tacos, Lobster Quinoa Ceviche, and Crispy Rice with Smoked Salmon were served. The cocktails and canapés presentation reflect the menu offerings of the Club Lounge, which incorporates Nobu’s approach to new style Japanese-Peruvian food.

Situated on the 56thfloor of Menara 3 Petronas, the Nobu Club Lounge commands sweeping views of the city’s picturesque skyline. With the Petronas Twin Towers setting the perfect backdrop, the Nobu Club Lounge is the quintessential venue to celebrate special milestones and host impressive events. The glossy, timeless interiors is a great canvas for luxury brands to entertain their valued clients and showcase new products. It also provides as a great place for after work drinks or pre-dinner cocktails, with a DJ

spinning soul funk, deep house, jazz and so forth on Fridays and Saturdays (8pm until midnight). In the restaurant’s main dining, over 200 guests, including private dining guests, were exceptionally lucky to experience the extraordinary 7-course Omakase menu which was created by Chef Nobu to mark his first visit to Nobu Kuala Lumpur, Nobu’s first restaurant in Southeast Asia. The restaurant was booked out a month in advance as food enthusiasts and gourmands looked forward to meeting the jovial Chef Nobu and getting a copy of his autographed cookbooks.

The Nobu group of restaurants was first introduced in 1994 with the opening of the original Nobu in New York. Since then, Nobu has received Michelin Stars and other illustrious global culinary  awards. Nobu currently has 30 restaurants worldwide, with Nobu KL, spanning 12,000 square feet, being the first Nobu in Southeast Asia. Nobu KL is located on Level 56, Menara 3 Petronas, KLCC. It is open for lunch Mondays to Fridays (12noon to 2pm daily)  and for dinner Mondays to Saturdays (6pm to 10.30pm daily).
