KFC CELEBRATES MERDEKA & MALAYSIA DAY WITH THE LESS FORTUNATE

September 19, 2014 by StrawberrY Gal

This year’s 57th Merdeka and Malaysia Day celebration gave much more meaning to the less fortunate children from three charity homes as KFC celebrates it with them, sharing harmony and love as well as the spirit of patriotism together.

The cheerful and colourful event which was held on three consecutive days starting from 11 to 13 September 2014 was part of KFC Malaysia’s corporate social responsibility efforts as a large corporate organization to give back to the society. The homes were Rumah Anak Kesayanganku in Bandar Bukit Beruntung, Selangor, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Seremban in Taman Bidara, Seremban, Negeri Sembilan, and Rumah Sayangan at Taman Billion in Cheras, Selangor.

On the day of the event, the KFC team helped to put up balloons, decorations and most importantly, the national flag to create a patriotic yet fun atmosphere for the children to enjoy. The great celebration was filled with music, fun, games, and entertainment by ‘Awang the Clown’ who made balloon sculptures for the children much to their delight!

The children were also treated to a magic show, singing and dancing before sharing buckets of KFC fried chicken, nuggets and sides with their guardian and the rest of the KFC team members. In line with celebrating the Merdeka and Malaysia Day, the children were also treated to a delicious chocolate cake beautifully decorated with the Malaysian flag.

“We are deeply touched by KFC’s effort to celebrate Merdeka and Malaysia Day with the children. When I told them that the KFC team was coming over to spend some time with them, they were thrilled!,” said Nurul Baiti, guardian at the Rumah Anak Kesayanganku.

“The children had so much fun and KFC have shown them the true meaning of Merdeka, which is the spirit of sharing and togetherness” said Saraswathy A/P Howdiar, guardian at the Pertubuhan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Seremban.

“It is great that the children enjoyed themselves with the KFC treats, cake and fun activities today. But most importantly, the children were exposed to the spirit of patriotism. The visit is indeed memorable and the children had a blast!,” said Susan Looi, guardian at the Rumah Sayangan.
Apart from playing games with Awang the Clown, the children also received goodie bags from KFC containing among other things a special edition backpack, note pad and toys.
