Federal Hotel in Bukit Bintang fares in good location and they are also one of the pioneer hotel industries in town. Bringing you a extravagaza sitting place which accompanied with classical decoration alike those in monuments with the touch of Chinese tradition. The restaurant (Mandarin Palace) owns an ample place which can fits more than 50 tables.

And this round, they comes out with their ala-carte buffet where it is named as “Yam Lei Sek (“任你吃”) 48 choices cuisine). The ala-carte buffet is prepared upon order and minimum of 2 pax to enjoy the buffet spread. As for us, we comes with 10 pax and we had a great selection to dine for. The buffet is well priced at RM 48++ per pax for adult and RM28++ for children.

Started with the soup- Shark’s Fin Soup with Crab Meat & Shredded Chicken (雞絲蟹肉翅) comes in a hearty bowl and served hot to our table. The shark fin soup comes well with the generous amount of shark fin, carab meat and sliced meat inside. The portion of the shark fin soup served very flavourful too.

As for the Thai Style Jelly Fish (泰式撈蜇花) ; the dried jellyfish is being cooked and dried and it is then added with the chef’s secret recipe spicy sauce and top with the slices of chilies and slice onions in it. The Jelly fish brings us with the sweet soury blend which is really appetizing and the chewy crispy texture of the jelly fish itself.

A bowl of hearty soup for those who love the home cooked style delights. The Pork Stomach & Salted Vegetables Soup (鹹菜豬肚湯) well served with the tofu, chicken meat, and also the pork stomach as well the salted vegetables of course. Well flavoured soup with loads of ingridients is just good to pamper ourselves with the mum’s home recipes. I felt the soup is too saltish to me.

Pork lovers can opt to try their Pork Rib with Plum Sauce (冰梅骨). Homemade sauce from the kitchen added with light plum sauce flavors. The pork ribs is being cubes and well marinated for one night with added water and oil which makes the pork meat not greesy. It is then being deep fried and drenched with their home made plum sauce with it. Bringing us a flavorful and juicy meat; I am falling in love with it.

Being in a Chinese restaurant; barbecue delights is something not to be missed. Choices of barbecue delights with rotation include the Salted Chicken, Salted Duck, Roast Duck with Sichuan Sauce, BBQ Pork and Roast Duck. A hearty plate of goodies turns to my favorite where the roast duck and char siew comes with juicy and moist texture of meat leaving a crispy skin. Yummz!

Fresh prawns never to missed here. Prepared with the simple way where the prawns is being made as Salt Baked Grass Prawns (椒鹽鮮草蝦) , the prawns is sweet as usual. The salt Baked Prawns comes very appetizing and each mouthful is covered with the sweetness of the fresh prawns with the light spiciness in it.

We also had the Talapia with Special Sauce (怪味金鳳魚). The deliciously done Talapia Fish is being deep fried till perfection; leaving a crispy bites with the flaky fish meat. Drenched with the sweet and sourish sauce ontop; it is much more appetizing and we called for another bowl of rice to go with it. Delicious!

The Yam Pot with Assorted Meat (佛缽又飄香)is being served in the huge portion and well laided with the yummilicious ingridients with includes yam paste, thigh meat and more.

Comes next is the stir-fried Vegetables with Nam Yee Sauce(南乳小炒皇). Well stir fried with the complete wok hei, the lotus root comes well with the crispy bites which is just awesome.

Ended with the Fried “Lo Su Fan” in Claypot (瓦煲老鼠粉); the lo su fan is pretty good with added an raw egg on top. It is being topped with the minced stir fried pork, egg paste and also some lard in it. Bringing the awesome flavorful bites with the crispy texture. It is awesome as it should be.
