EVISU SPRING SUMMER 2014 COLLECTION DENIM DANDYISM: CRAFTSMANSHIP MEETS STYLE

April 22, 2014 by StrawberrY Gal

Internationally renowned Japanese denim specialist EVISU fuses the traditional craftsmanship and tailoring of Japanese denim with fashion elements and durable materials to create the unique “Denim Dandyism” in their SS14 Spring Summer 2014 Collection. Merging contemporary denim wear and creative signature prints with the classic dandy look, the collection possesses a one-of-a-kind spirit that highlights the refined street-smart style the Japanese brand is renowned for.

EVISU Spring Summer 2014 Main Collection – Heritage & EVISU Genes

Sophisticated, stylish and energetic – these have always been the core identities of EVISU’s Heritage and Genes collections. This season, designers have harmonised traditional dandy styling with classic denim to create a range of inspiring pieces that can be layered and mixed and matched at will. Pair the perfectly cut checkered denim blazer with a camouflage gilet, for example, to create a striking sense of contrast. The team also combined iconic EVISU images with monogram, paisley, and polka dot patterns on denim to lend a strong Japanese fashion identity to the collection. New designs such as gradient-printed trousers and cropped pants, sports-centric pieces and stylish slim-cut denims showcase the excellent craftsmanship and quality behind this unique denim dandy style.

PRIVATE STOCK Collection
The PRIVATE STOCK Collection uses the best denim available from master craftsmen in Japan fused with impeccable detail, making every pair a wearable artwork. The collection’s signature selvedge denim is created in Japan’s renowned ‘Home of Denim’, Okayama province. Every piece of fabric is created on a traditional, one-of-a-kind Riki-Shokki Loom machine, which is manned by experienced craftsmen to ensure the denim is to EVISU’s exacting standards. This time-consuming and intricate process limits the number of denims created each day. Skilled artists draw EVISU’s signature ‘Seagull’ symbol on the back pocket by hand, meaning no monogram is ever exactly the same. This gives each denim its own personality.
This season’s PRIVATE STOCK pays homage to the traditional art of kimono embroidery (komakake 駒掛け 刺繍), with Japanese artisans stitching opulent effects. Motifs, such as the Seagull, have been built up with metallic thread and the “long and short stitch” technique on every back pocket, giving another dimension to the brand’s icon.
Always innovative, EVISU has researched various washed denims, and, through the latest advancement in technique and technology, has replicated the washed effect of a pair of denims that have been worn continuously for one month, one year and three years. In this season’s collection, designers have also used Japan’s renowned dyeing technique and the unique washed effect on every piece, making each item a demonstration of EVISU’s fine craftsmanship that will appeal to denim lovers around the world.
EVISU Women’s Collection

Denim is an essential item in every woman’s wardrobe, and for EVISU’s Spring Summer 2014 Women’s Collection, femininity is both delicate and fierce. Rock ’n roll elements such as rivets and studs are added to denim jeans for a bold look, while Japanese-style Souvenir Jackets and vintage-washed t-shirts combine to create a vibrant Japanese-inspired ‘rock chic’ style. The softer side of femininity is showcased through floral prints, adopted through the use of Japanese Kimono-style patchwork designs, which fabricate the sweet side of femininity. This season EVISU also introduces a range of Japanese floral-inspired printed denim jeans, designed for slim-cut fitting to showcase the silhouette of the female form – a must-have for the Spring Summer season.
The all new EVISU Denim Jeans Fit Guide
From traditional Japanese to the latest style-centric denim, EVISU has been at the forefront of designing and creating cuts of jeans for denim lovers across the world for years. For Spring Summer 2014, EVISU has developed three new cuts, meaning there are now 10 cuts with which to fulfil the different needs of denim lovers everywhere.
New Classic Fit 2017: Casual, with relaxed fit on the upper thigh area, the jeans taper to slim cut around the calf and ankle. Designed with style-lovers in mind.
New Classic Fit 2020: Regular straight-cut fit on the upper thigh area, merging into slim fit at the lower leg. Clean and comfortable design suitable for any occasion.
