Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur Partners with London Tea Exchange for Exquisite Afternoon Tea

October 2, 2024 by StrawberrY Gal

On 19 September, Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur proudly launched its Pink Afternoon Tea, a luxurious collaboration with the renowned London Tea Exchange. Held at the Lobby Lounge, the exclusive event was graced by Acting British High Commissioner, Mr. David Wallace, and attended by distinguished guests, including representatives from the British Malaysian Chamber of Commerce. This unique partnership underscores both Shangri-La and London Tea Exchange’s shared dedication to quality, innovation, and sustainability.

With a history dating back to 1679 during the reign of King Charles II, London Tea Exchange stands as one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious tea companies. Boasting an impressive collection of over 2,500 rare and premium teas from 43 countries, the company has garnered an elite clientele that includes 82 Royal Households, Nobel Laureates, and some of the finest luxury hotels globally. London Tea Exchange’s commitment to sustainability and ethically sourced teas aligns seamlessly with Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur’s values.

During the launch event, guests had the opportunity to participate in a tea-tasting session, personally savoring the carefully curated selection of premium teas. Each blend reflected centuries of craftsmanship, offering a glimpse into London Tea Exchange’s unparalleled legacy.

The Afternoon Tea menu, curated by Executive Chef Scott Brand and Executive Sous Chef Annie Yam, is inspired by these exquisite teas. Guests can indulge in a variety of savory and sweet delights infused with tea flavors, perfectly paired with the selected blends. Savory highlights include the Snow Crab Rolls with Diced Apple and Mustard Cress, infused with the refreshing tones of Premium Turkish Apple tea, and the Smoked Duck and Foie Gras Croquette with Cherry, which delivers a sophisticated balance of smoky and sweet.

The sweet offerings are equally enticing, such as the Rose Ivoire Chocolate Mousse with Sencha Sakura, blending creamy white chocolate, floral rose, and delicate green tea undertones. The Mille Feuille, featuring Premium Sea of Blossom tea, layers tart berries with soothing floral notes, evoking hints of cherry and rose. Meanwhile, the Wild Berries Macaron, crafted with Premium Pink Tropic tea, adds a fruity and tropical touch. To round off the indulgence, freshly baked Plain and Dried Fruit Scones, inspired by Premium Bora Bora tea, are served with Raspberry Jam, Clotted Cream, and Whipped Butter.

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October, Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur will donate 5% of proceeds from each Pink Elegance Afternoon Tea set to the Breast Cancer Welfare Association (BCWA), allowing guests to enjoy a luxurious experience while supporting a worthy cause.

The Pink Afternoon Tea is available from 17 September to 31 October 2024 at the Lobby Lounge, priced at RM 220 nett per set for two persons, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM daily. For reservations and more information, please contact +603 2786 2378 or email [email protected].
