110 years Nasi Kandar @ Kota Damansara

February 18, 2019 by StrawberrY Gal

With 110 years of history, Hameediyah Nasi Kandar Restaurant is one of my favorite place when I am a little girl when my grandparents take me there for their curry kapitan and more.

Hameediyah Nasi Kandar Restaurant started back near Chowrasta Market where they has been operating since 1907. And now, they had expended their business to Klang Valley with two outlets where one is at Kota Damansara (open back in 2016) and another is at Ampang.

And now, the Nasi Kandar is operated by their 6th and 7th generation of their family. And according to Mr Aboo (the owner of Hameediyah), all the recipes are from their ancestors and they are still maintaining the same recipes and bringing the herbs and spices over from Penang.

                                    Ayam bawang -Rm 8.50

Ayam Kapitan Rm7.00

And this time, we tried their nasi kandar which is just the same taste as what I usually had in Penang.  Their curries are not those super spicy curry but the curry are slightly mild and yet aromatic. The curries are filled with the aromatic herbs and spices taste with it.  Drenched your plate of nasi kandar with their chicken kapitan, chicken curry, mutton curries and more where the curries are thick and creamy. Top them with some vegetables and egg as well.

Nasi Biryani Ayam Tanam Set
(Comes with Dalcha and Timun Nenas Bawang)
(Rm11.50)

If you are not a white rice lover, have your briyani rice instead. Have the delicious fluffy briyani rice which is perfectly cooked with ghee and spices with it. They are served with the Ayam Tanam together with the Dalca and Timun Nenas Bawang.  I am loving the aromatic spices taste of the briyani rice where the taste are wonderfully enhanced with their curry of course.

Charcoal fish head curry  (Range from RM 39 – RM120)

One of A MUST to have here is their curry fish. The Curry Fish Head here is superbly delicious where they are cooked using charcoal and claypot. The curry fish head is the crowd favourites and for us, we will be coming back again for this.  We needed additional bowl of rice too and drenched our rice with the pipping hot and spicy curry. OMG this is divinely good.

Murtabak (RM 7)
We also tried their murtabak. Have your murtabak with the choice of chicken, beef or lamb. We have ours which is the chicken version and the murtabak here is slightly different where they are thicker. The Malaysian version of pancake  where they are packed with eggs, flour, and ghee pan seared till perfection. The delicious murtabak comes slightly heavy but the taste is just perfect to my expectation.

Overall, Hameediyah Nasi Kandar Restaurant is one of our favorite place to dine as it not just bringing back loads of memories of my younger days with my grandparents but the taste of Penang Nasi Kandar truly not disappoint me too. I am totally in love with their Claypot Curry Fish Head and also my all time favorite Kari Kapitan.
