Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel hosted a Chinese New Year Lunch for 24 elderly residents of Rumah Charis recently. Led by hotel General Manager Mr. Paul Cannings and his team, the senior citizens were treated to a meaningful ‘lou hei’ or the tossing of the ‘yee sang’ and luncheon. ‘Angpows’ were distributed to everyone and non-perishable consumables were presented to the representative from the home.
“Our business is all about people. We strongly support the communities where we live and work. That is why we view our ‘Spirit To Serve’ culture of more than 80 years as a source of strength that our competitors cannot easily replicate. As an entity operating under the Marriott International chain of hotels and resorts, investing in the communities where we do business in is at the core of our social responsibility and community engagement strategy,” said Mr. Cannings.
After lunch, they were ushered to the hotel’s Convention Center entrance for an acrobatic lion dance performance. For the Chinese, the lion dance is a must during the celebration as they believe dancing lions to be the vehicle for channeling good blessings as well as bringing in prosperity.
