Discover Hong Kong Like A Local with SchAwaLara!

December 23, 2017 by StrawberrY Gal

Getting around Hong Kong

Awal Ashaari, Scha Alyahya and Lara Alana (SchAwaLara) explored Hong Kong Island via a Tram or more commonly known as “Ding Ding” because of the sound of the tram’s ringing bell. The tram is very well represents Hong Kong’s iconic mode of transportation which dates back to 1904. What better way to discover Hong Kong like a local through this historic ride. It is like being transported back to the old-time of Hong Kong. The leisurely travel speed allows you to enjoy the surrounding view of Hong Kong Island. For a more modern way of exploring Hong Kong, follow SchAwaLara on a Big Bus tour around Kowloon, passing by some of the key landmarks like Temple Street, Mongkok and Tsim Sha Tsui.

Find out how Awal challenged himself by getting onto the Ngong Ping 360 Crystal Cabin Cable Car with a transparent glass bottom which made him feel like he was flying across the vast sea and hilly mountains. The view at the destination was breathtaking which includes one of the world’s largest outdoor bronze Buddhas.

The best spot to view Hong Kong’s enchanting skyline is at Victoria Harbour in which SchAwaLara got the opportunity to board the iconic DukLing Harbour Cruise, the only original sailing junk in Hong Kong from Victoria Harbour and got the best of both worlds. Admire the city’s impressive skyline of both Hong Kong Island and Kowloon right in front of you.

Theme Parks
It is every girl’s dream to be a princess and it is no wonder that 3-year-old Lara got so excited when she magically turned into one of her favourite Disney princesses which is none other than Cinderella in Hong Kong Disneyland. The parents also became kids for the day when they got to meet their idol, Ironman in real life. Another must-go attractions is Hong Kong’s major theme park with an aquatic and conservation theme is the Ocean Park Hong Kong. Our brave princess enjoyed the exhilarating rides with her parents, and also got the opportunity to see animals upclose.

Halal Friendliness

Where to find delicious Halal food in Hong Kong? Wonder if there is any mosque you can visit for your Friday prayers? Awal and his family experienced the Halal offerings available in Hong Kong during their trip where they were served a wide variety of delicious halal food in town and facilities catered specially for Muslim tourists.
Just right in the heart of city near Prince Edward MTR station is the Ma’s restaurant which is famous for Chinese / Cantonese halal delicacies. Not to forget the satisfying Indian, Italian & Middle Eastern cuisine at Ebeneezer’s Kebab & Pizzeria where the family enjoyed their first delightful dinner in Hong Kong.
Do also visit Islamic Centre Canteen after praying at Ammar Mosque and Osman Ramju Sadick Islamic Centre to find authentic halal dim sum in the land of dim sum!

Fashion and Lifestyle

Not only a celebrity but also an entrepreneur who owns a boutique, Scha and Awal went fabric hunting at Sham Shui Po and found the right materials for their store. Sham Shui Po is a hidden gem for shopping and venture into the Toys’ Street in which Lara went crazy shopping for her toys here.

Explore Old Town Central with the couple which offers endless avenues of experience including its colonial monuments, street art displays and others hidden gems nestled within the district. Watch the couple make their own couple rings during a jewelry workshop visit at Obellery, located in PMQ. This is an activity that you can consider to impress your significant other with one of a kind jewelry statement.

Shopping is definitely a must for the SchAwal couples who are always at the forefront of fashion trends. Find out their impressive experience with Elements mall that has brings together a host of glamorous brands

Attractions

Discover the unique and amazing view of Hong Kong city with SchAwaLara where you will be amazed by Hong Kong’s exhilarating view at sky100 Hong Kong Observation Deck. Follow SchAwaLara’s foot steps to the highest viewing platform in Hong Kong at Sky Terrace 428 with The Peak Tram, which has been the city’s most exclusive neighborhood since colonial times and quietly witnessing 120 years of the city’s changes.

The family also had a lot of fun at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong which is located at The Peak where they met with over 100 incredibly lifelike wax figures and went through the 11 interactive zones that are available to explore. Contrary to popular belief, Hong Kong is not just a concrete jungle. Follow the family to Hong Kong UNESCO Geopark and be amazed by the greenery and unbelievable scenery. Find out more about the dormant volcano in Hong Kong.

Travel video montage of SchAwaLara
A video montage of the family as they discover Hong Kong like a local by traveling on different modes of transports to theme parks and attractions and as well as finding various hidden gems and shopping hunts! Also, check out the family’s experience as they explore the Muslim-friendly side of Hong Kong.
