CELEBRATE MOONCAKE FESTIVAL WITH SHANGRI-LA HOTEL KUALA LUMPUR

August 14, 2014 by StrawberrY Gal

Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur offers classic and new mooncakes handmade by Chinese Executive Chef Tan Kim Weng for the Mooncake or Mid-Autumn Festival on 8 September 2014. Mooncakes are about unity among family members and strengthening ties with friends, both personal and corporate. Thus, they make meaningful gifts.

I supposed buying mooncake now is not looking at the mooncake quality but also the packaging. The packaging this year is simply beautiful where it comes with drawers and you can stack them up and use them to store your stuff. This year, I am surprised with the beautiful packaging and it can be used to store my little jewerries or even my arts with it. The high quality box which comes with the Chinese emboidary is so nice and the sweet purple is also beautiful.

Every year, I would always love their mooncakes where their mooncakes are low on sweetness.
This year, the classical mooncakes comes many varieties where they have the Lotus Seed Paste, White Lotus Seed Paste and Red Bean Paste, with or without egg yolks, and Assorted Nuts and Sun-Dried Fruits.

For me, I am a big fans of Pandan Lotus Seed Paste with Single Yolk and the Pandan Lotus Seed Paste with Single Yolk which give a right blend of sweetness in it. The Pandan Lotus Seed Paste with Single Yolk is very fragrant on its texture and bringing up the overall creamy blend. Comes with the sunny egg yolk in the middle and it is moist. It is a nice one to go for.

Besides the Traditional Mooncake, we also had their snow skin lotus mooncake which comes good as well. With the variety of mooncakes like the Mini Ping Pei Durian, Mini Ping Pei Snow White Chocolate with Honeycomb and Mini Ping Pei with Custard and Bird’s Nest; this year they also releases another new flavor which is the Mini Ping Pei with Avocado Custard Cream. The Mini Ping Pei is one of my favorite for sure as I am a big fans of durian. The fragrant durian taste is so distinct and you can get the pulps of durian in it. The taste is so nice and with the durian swimming in my mouth, I am so happy and the taste is double thumbs up.

If you love to get your mooncake from Shangri-la, do pop by to the special Mooncake Counter has been set up in the hotel lobby, with different varieties of mooncakes displayed together with the beautiful premium gift boxes. The mooncakes may be ordered at this counter from 1 July to 8 September 2014.

From 1 July to 24 July 2014, there is an Early Bird Offer of 15 per cent discount on all mooncakes. Two rebate vouchers of RM20 each, to be used at Shang Palace and Lemon Garden Cafe, will also be given for every mooncake gift box purchased. A company logo may be placed on the gift boxes for purchases of 50 boxes and above on single receipt. The ultimate gift for this year’s festival is to have your company logo engraved on the mooncake for purchases of 300 boxes and above on a single receipt.
