Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur Celebrates Dragon Boat Festival withHandcrafted Rice Dumplings from Shang Palace

May 14, 2026 by StrawberrY Gal

In celebration of the Dragon Boat Festival, Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur presents an exquisite collection of handcrafted rice dumplings from Shang Palace, honouring the cherished tradition of togetherness and the sharing of blessings for health, prosperity and happiness. Expertly crafted by the Shang Palace culinary team, each dumpling showcases a harmonious balance of premium ingredients and authentic flavours, reflecting both time-honoured recipes and contemporary inspirations.

Guests may choose from seven varieties of flavours, offering a diverse selection that ranges from signature classics to innovative new creations. Taking centre stage is the abalone and scallop rice dumpling, Shang Palace’s signature creation. This indulgent delicacy features glutinous rice filled with premium abalone, dried scallops, chestnuts, salted egg yolk, chicken, duck, mushrooms and dried shrimp, delivering a rich and savoury flavour with a fragrant finish. Equally satisfying is the Cantonese-style rice dumpling, a classic favourite filled with chestnuts, salted egg yolk, chicken, duck, mushrooms and dried shrimp, offering a well-balanced and comforting taste.

Adding a distinctive local touch this year are two new creations inspired by Malaysian flavours. The ayam percik dice dumpling features glutinous rice filled with spiced minced chicken, infused with aromatic Malay herbs and the signature essence of ayam percik, resulting in a fragrant and mildly spiced profile. The ikan bilis sambal rice dumpling delivers a bold and savoury experience, combining glutinous rice with rich sambal, dried shrimp and anchovies, reminiscent of the beloved flavours of nasi lemak.

The collection is complemented by a range of individually crafted dumplings. The Hokkien-style black-eyed bean and chicken rice dumpling offers a comforting blend of black-eyed beans, tender chicken, salted egg yolk, mushrooms and dried shrimp. The Yunnan-style wild mushroom and truffle rice dumpling presents a rich and aromatic flavour with premium wild mushrooms and truffle, while the red bean alkaline rice dumpling provides a light and delicately sweet finish with smooth red bean paste.

Ideal for gifting, the elegant Heritage Gift Box consist of six curated selections of dumplings:

• 1 piece, ayam percik rice dumpling
