 Taipei, the vibrant capital city of Taiwan, is a captivating blend of rich history, modernity, and natural beauty. If you’re looking to explore beyond the usual tourist spots, here are 10 unique places to visit in Taipei, each with its own distinct charm and character.

1. Jiufen Old Street

Transportation: Take a bus from Taipei City (about 1.5 hours) or a train to Ruifang Station followed by a bus (20 minutes).

Step back in time by visiting Jiufen Old Street, a historic mountain town known for its narrow lanes, traditional teahouses, and stunning views of the coast. This former gold mining town is famous for its nostalgic ambiance and is particularly enchanting in the evening when lanterns illuminate the streets.

2. Taipei 101

Transportation: Accessible via Taipei Metro (MRT) on the Red Line (Xiangshan Station).

No visit to Taipei is complete without ascending Taipei 101, one of the world’s tallest skyscrapers. Take the high-speed elevator to the observatory for panoramic views of the city and beyond. Explore the shopping mall at the base and dine in one of the tower’s acclaimed restaurants.

3. Beitou Hot Springs

Transportation: Take the Taipei Metro (MRT) to Beitou Station (Red Line) and transfer to the Xinbeitou branch line.
