January 27, 2022 by StrawberrY Gal

Oversea Restaurant needs no further introduction as a household name when it comes to preserving the rich traditions of Chinese cuisine and known for its exquisite offering of traditional Cantonese specialities since establishing itself in the 1970s. In the spirit of ushering in the year of the Tiger with a roar, Oversea Restaurant is bringing the “Ong” in with the Oversea Special Platter Dish Combo, the Prosperity Treasure Pot (Poon Choy), their best-selling crowd favourite Waxed Meat Rice in Claypot, six different types of unique Yee Sang in assorted flavours and four Chinese New Year Sets.

And this year; Overseas Restaurant brings you with their Oversea Special Platter which comes with the steaming pot of goodness. Starting at RM625++, the Oversea Special Platter features an assortment of premium seafood, meat and vegetables in the Prosperity Treasure Pot, Yee Sang with Salmon and Pear as an appetizer and Sweetened Sea Coconut with Longan to end the meal on a sweet note. Diners are also given an option to choose between the “Yong Zhao” Fried Rice or Noodle with Bean Sprouts and Shredded Meat to go with this meal. The Oversea Special Platter is available for dine in only at Oversea Restaurants until Chap Goh Mei.

We started off with their Yee Sang which comes with the scrumptious ingredients which is freshly made from the kitchen. One can enjoy the tasty and colourful salad with a variety of shredded and pickled vegetables, salmon, jelly fish, nuts, powders, sauces and condiments while exchanging auspicious sayings. Overseas Restaurant is delighted to offer six different types of Yee Sang in half and full portion ranging from RM78++ to RM180++. The six types of Yee Sang are the Oversea Fabulous Fruity Yee Sang, the Prosperous Yee Sang with Abalone & Pear, Yee Sang with Jelly Fish & Pear, Yee Sang with Sliced Salmon & Pear, Yee Sang with Abalone & Truffle and Yee Sang with Sliced Salmon Fish.

Moving next is of course the HIGHLIGHT- Prosperity Treasure Pot. It is a melting pot of abundance featuring 15 types of auspicious ingredients and is perfect for 6 pax at RM538 nett and for 10 pax at RM688 nett. There are scrumptious ingredients in it which includes mushrooms, fish maw, abalone, prawns, goose claw, scallops and many more. They are packed with the awesome ingredients and every mouthful comes simply flavourful and appetizing.

After the great meal, one can enjoy the scrumptious Noodle with Bean Sprouts and Shredded Meat. They are well made and stir fried leaving the flavourful taste and appetizing dish to ends with.

Asides from that, you can also have their Waxed Meat Rice has always been a crowd favourite over the years and this typical Chinese New Year dish prepared in a claypot is making a comeback this year so be prepared to enjoy the distinctive aroma of this fragrant sweet and savoury goodness from the preserved meat which makes a true comfort food for the soul.  They comes in 2 sizes which cater for 6 pax (RM108++ ) and 10 pax ( RM138++)

We ends our meals of course with some sweet desserts. In here, one can enjoy the Sweetened Sea Coconut with Longan which is perfect after a heavy meal.

Also staying true to Chinese New Year traditions, there will be four meal sets inclusive of 8-9 courses starting at RM668++ for six pax and at RM798++ for eight pax.
