Okonomi @ Tokyo Street : A must try Okonomi!

January 5, 2021 by StrawberrY Gal

When I heard about Okonomi, I cant wait to visit them. It is hard to find a good on in KL, and one of our favorites is from Osaka Kitchen at J’s Gate Dining at Lot 10. And finally, we found out that Chef Takeshi Wada is here in Pavilion at Okonomi by Tokyo Don.

They are located in Tokyo Street Pavilion KL ( Level 6) and you can spot the restaurant easily too. With the casual ambiance with simple wooden theme, it is really a nice place to sit down, sample your food and watch the Chef in Action.

And Chef Takeshi is the chef from Kagoshima, Japan who ran a highly sought-after Yakiniku restaurant in Roppongi, Tokyo before coming to Malaysia.

And this time, we had tried their wholesome 7 -course meal which definitely makes me coming back for more. The set meal comes with the salad, sesame tofu, pork belly omelet, Avocado or Tomato with Melted Cheese, a Dessert and of course the main.

We started out with the Salad where the Mesclun Salad is beautifully toasted in vinaigrette dressing. It is such a refreshing and light meal to start with.

Moving next, we have the Avocado with Cheese where the sliced avocado is grilled on the melted creamy cheese. For fans of cheese, this is really delicious and yummy!

Sesame Tofu is served next where they are not those usual one, we have. And this time, we had the Black Sesame Tofu which brings you with the melts in the mouth sensation and jiggling one. They are really nice and you can taste the fragrant of the black sesame in it.

Pork Belly Omelette! Double thumbs up for this! Nothing will goes wrong with omelette and this awesome dish is packed with the aromatic eggy taste in it with the fragrant pan fried pork belly, they are just awesomely good!

As for the main; we have the Australian Wagyu Sirloin (RM190.00). The Wagyu Sirloin is awesomely good and they are perfectly done with the perfect medium rare. The texture is just right and the meat is just tender and juicy. Every bites is wonderful and they are paired with their signature sauce to go with it.

If you not a beef lover, you can go for the Ral d’ Avinyo Pork Chop (RM 45). Using the premium pork, you will be assured that you will fall in love with it. The pig is breed in Europe and they are feed with traditional cereals that will ensure you on a better quality of meat. And the meat absolutely delicious where there and tender and juicy. A must to try!

Being here, one of course must have their Okonomiyaki! It is one of the must try here and the pancake comes deliciously good with the scrumptious juicy pork belly In it. It is topped with the generous homemade sauce, mayonnaise as well as the bonito flakes. The dish is indeed a double thumbs up and every mouthful is such an indulgence.

Ends your meal with their choice of desserts where they have the Panna Cotta, Yuzu and Matcha Ice cream.

If you are looking for a delicious okonomiyaki, this is definitely a place to visit. Neverless, their ala-carte delights such as the wagyu beef and also the Ral d’ Avinyo Pork Chop is some of the MUST Try here too.
