A SCINTILLATING LION DANCE PERFORMANCE AT ONE WORLD HOTEL

January 30, 2020 by StrawberrY Gal

In conjunction with the ‘prospe-Rat-y’ year, guests and associates of One World Hotel witnessed a spectacular 30-minute lion dance performance by the National Champion, Khuan Loke Dragon and Lion Dance Association troupe at the hotel driveway and main lobby on Tuesday, 29th January 2020.

Two beautiful red lions showed off their stunning acrobatic stunts with much agility and vigour, accompanied by the thunderous beat of gongs, drums and clashing cymbals which in Chinese belief meant to represent good luck as well as to bring in the good ‘chi’, or positive energy flowing into the Hotel.

In keeping with the hotel’s annual tradition, the charming lions pranced and danced as they made their ritual blessings way around the hotel’s administration offices, restaurants, function rooms and the reception area in the lobby prior to the highlights of the agenda, the finale performance followed by igniting two 8-feet firecrackers display. The flawless performance culminated with the presentation of ‘platter of prosperity’ consisting mandarin oranges, raw bananas, pineapple, pomelo and green lettuce as a symbol of fortune, luck and ‘all things good’ for the Hotel to the family’s matriarch, YBhg Puan Sri To’ Puan Cheng Gek Hong together with the directors, YBhg Tan Sri Teo Chiang Kok and YBhg Tan Sri Dato’ (Dr) Teo Chiang Liang. Also present to witness the event were the general manager, Mr Chris Niuh, joined by fellow Head of Departments of the hotel as well as hotel guests.

“It is an annual affair for One World Hotel to have the much-anticipated lion dance performance on the fourth day of the Lunar New Year, to bless the hotel with good luck and fortune for the New Year. Moreover, it is also a display of one of our many Malaysian cultures to the non-local guests as well as adding some festive cheer to the atmosphere,” said the general manager, Mr Chris Niuh.
