Tai Sun Singapore Expands to Malaysia with the Launch of Nature’s Wonders

October 13, 2017 by StrawberrY Gal

True to its aim of delivering healthy and nutritious snacks to its consumers, Tai Sun (Lim Kee) Food Industries, the leading producer of snack foods in Singapore today introduced Nature’s Wonders to the Malaysian market. Consumers will be able to enjoy Nature’s Wonders premium nuts range as part of Tai Sun’s expansion plan in Malaysia.

Speaking at the launch of Nature’s Wonders in Malaysia and a discussion titled “Malaysians Snacking Habit: Are We Eating Right?”, Esther Loo, Head of Marketing, Tai Sun (Lim Kee) Food shared, “In today’s fast-paced environment, Malaysians generally lead busy lives that they often  overlook on their healthy eating and exercise habits. We are here to encourage Malaysians to eat right, and this should start with a healthy snacking habit. We have seen a positive trend where Malaysians are slowly embracing healthier lifestyle and we see the fit of expanding our business in Malaysia.”

Malaysia has a large and growing food retail market supplied by local and imported products. Retail sales of food and beverages has a big impact of up to total US$16 billion.Southeast Asia’s developing nations are contributing significantly to the snacking category’s growth, posting 3.6% year-on-year growth compared to 2% globally.

Chiming in on the topic, Indra Balaratnam, Consultant Dietician added, “When our lives gets busy, a healthy diet is usually the first thing to go. The lack of consistent eating routine and eating unhealthy food are some of the things that happen to most of us, and it will affect our body if we continue with this habit.”

Among some of the health risks that Malaysians commonly faced are overweight, heart diseases and diabetes. According to the “Tackling Obesity in ASEAN” report by The Economist Intelligence Unit, Malaysia has the highest obesity prevalence in South-East Asia with 13.3% of our population being classified as obese and 38.5% as overweight.

Snacking right, snacking smart – unlocking the benefits from tree nuts
While it is important to ensure that balanced proportions of nutrients are included in meals, Malaysians today often practice this for the three main meals without considering that the same rule applies for snacking. With the right meal planning, snacks can fit into a healthy eating plan and provide an energy boost that is required. Tree nuts are considered one of the healthiest snacks and when incorporated into a healthy diet consisting of balanced nutrients, it may help reduce risk factors such as coronary artery diseases; which is still a common health risk amongst Malaysians.

“Breaking the habit of unhealthy snacking may be difficult but with simple steps, the changes that they will see in their body by snacking right will benefit in the long run. A simple switch from goreng pisang or keropok to a small bowl of mixed nuts and raisins will provide them an energy-boosting snack”, Indra shared.

Nature’s Wonders, Life’s Natural Treats
Nature’s Wonders delicious range of nuts and dried fruits includes The Royal Mix, Fruits and Nuts Fusion, Baked Almonds and Baked Cashew Nuts. Nature’s Wonders is available at all major hypermarkets and supermarkets such as GIANT, AEON, Jaya Grocer, Village Grocer, Cold Storage and Ben’s Independent Grocer (BIG).
