AVENUE K USHERS IN THE YEAR OF THE ROOSTER WITH A MULTITUDE OF FESTIVITIES

This Lunar New Year of the Rooster, Avenue K Shopping Mall presents a feast of nostalgic experiences and sweet decorations in a quaint setting reminiscent of the city’s yesteryear back in 1970’s. Aptly themed the “AK Nostalgic Chinatown”, shoppers can savour the delights of the festivity, enjoy grand decorations, heart-thumping sensational performances and bountiful rewards starting from 31 December 2016 – 12 February 2017.

In the light of Chinese New Year celebration, Avenue K will also entertain shoppers and visitors with an array of festive entertainments to add to the already exciting, celebratory atmosphere. Catch the eight (8) Acrobatic Lion Dance troupe by 2014 World Champion Lion Dance from the National Champion Lion Dance Troupe, Kwong Ngai Lion Dance to perform on the second and last day of Chinese New Year accompanied by firecrackers lighting ceremony which will delight shoppers and tourists alike with the essence of Chinese New Year in Malaysia.

Ms.  Phang Sze Sze, Deputy General Manager said, “We’re already halfway through our first month of 2017, and Chinese New Year is just around the corner. To add a touch of excitement to the Chinese New Year celebration, we would like to invite

shoppers  and visitors to witness the wonderful magnificent acrobatic lion dance performing to the noisy sound of drums, auspicious gongs and cymbals in front of Avenue K entrance on the second and last day of Chinese New Year to welcome prosperity, longevity and happiness for 2017”.

As part of Avenue K’s Chinese New Year celebration tradition, shoppers and visitors will get to be part of Mandarin Oranges Rolling session which will be held at the main entrance to ensure the flowing of prosperity into the building all year long.  We have also prepared a myriad of exciting activities on the second day of Chinese New Year celebration. The festive entertainment will be followed by a crowd-engaging Chinese Orchestra and the unforgettable Shanghai Jazz vocalist – Janet Lee at the Ground Floor Atrium’.

In keeping with the Chinese tradition of beating drums to invoke blessings, there will be drum set up for all those wishing to ring in the New Year with a few auspicious drum beats complemented with 8 Acrobatic Lion Dance  on Chap Goh Meh at Ground Floor Atrium. The drum carries Avenue K best wishes to everyone, hoping that it will instil strength, stamina and solidarity.   Janet Lee will be making her last appearance on the last day of Chinese New Year. Last but not least, don’t miss the opportunity to catch the main highlight of the day where the lions will shower shoppers with money for abundant prosperity, wealth and luck. Come be a part of the memorable moments at Avenue K Shopping Mall.

Spend and be rewarded this Chinese New Year at Avenue K! Shoppers can redeem AK excusive red packets when they spend RM200 and above (RM150 and above for Maybank MasterCard, Visa Credit Cards, American Express Credit and Charge Cards holders) in a single receipt. What’s more, prosperity cookies set are also available for redemption until 12 February 2017 when shoppers spend RM438 and above (RM388 and above for Maybank MasterCard, Visa Credit Cards, American Express Credit and Charge Cards holders) in two combined receipts. Shoppers may also stand a chance to win a pair of return tickets to Hong Kong, Bangkok with AirAsia, Fitness First Platinum Membership, aloft Hotel stay, and other fabulous prizes worth over RM 88,000 by taking part in the Unlock AK Prosperity Box Challenge with RM388 and above spent in two combined receipts.   The prize giving ceremony will be held on Chap Goh Meh at 5.00pm.
