ISHIN JAPANESE DINING @ OLD KLANG ROAD

November 3, 2014 by StrawberrY Gal

Ishin

We had heard many times about Ishin, and we found that it is well located at the corner bungalow – turned Japanese Restaurant which is nested by Old Klang Road comes to our surprises where they served a great Japanese delights. Serving the authentic Japanese and Kaiseki Style Cuisine, which is using the freshest and finest ingredient flown from Japan, Ishin also provide us with the posh looking interior and yellowish lighting which give us the comfort zone.
Ishin
For a better Japanese style experiences, Ishin do have the private rooms and also Tatami seating which give you a flexibility in hosting private events and corporate functions in a comfortable setting where free valet services are also extended to dinner guests as an added convenience.
Ishin
We started with the Ankimo (RM 28.00). The Foei Gras of the sea which comes from the Monk Fish is just awesome as it is. The liver is first rubbed with sea salt, and the veins are picked out and the liver is rolled into a cylinder. It is then being marinated with the sea salt and wrapped with the alumimium foil. The Ankimo is later being grilled with the choice of teppanyaki sauce or you can have them with added citrus juice.

Graciously presented on our table, the Sashimi (Market Price) where the wholesome portion of fresh seafood is placed on the bed of ice. The presentation is just awesome. The sashimi comes to be the Fresh Sanma, Arkshell, Scampi (Baby Lobster), Kampachi (Amber Jack) , Hirame (Summer flounder), , Prawns , Japanese Scallops, kampachi Belly and Tachiuo fish (Belt Fish). Each fish is well cutted and presented graciously. The sweet fish comes awesomely good and each mouthful is so perfecto. Sashimis are indeed very fresh and I am falling in love with it.
Ishin
Mexxy comes the Sawa Gani (Seasonal) where the freakishly small freshwater crabs that live all over Japan is being deep fried till perfection. The little crabs with their bodies no bigger than a thumbnail and their legs like stiff whisker is awesomely crunchy. It would definitely goes well with a cup of beer.
Ishin
Hotate Yanagawa (RM 62) which is shimmered half shell scallops is being grilled together with shitake mushrooms, dashi, egg and seaweed. The Hotate is awesomely delicious and sweet and each mouthful of hotate is just awesome as it is.
Ishin
As for the Wagyu Haubayaki (Seasonal Price) where the Japanese Wagyu Beef is being marinated with the sweet sauce, apple grater plus gnger, mirin, soyu and sake together. It is then being placed on top of the Magnolia leaf and being grilled. The wagyu beef comes awesomely delicious with the tender and juicy meat. Nice one !
Ishin
As for the Shirako ( Cod Fish Milt) it is something worth while to be tried at least once. The cod fish milt is added with the ponzu sauce and the citrus sauce together for more sourish blend. The milt comes creamy in texture and Chef William explains that it is only 30% cooked. Oh my! But it is worth to try for once !
Ishin
The Komachi Ayu ( Seasonal Price) is being grilled with salt. Nothing fancy on the cooking method, but Komachi Ayu does give a nice blend of taste on its meat with the light saltiness with it.
Ishin
As for the chawanmushi, Chef William had made a twist on the presentation of it. Instead of presenting in a bowl, Chef William presented the chawanmushi in the egg shell with the topped of caviar, uni and also tobiko. The chawanmushi comes awesomely good with the silky texture of the egg and every mouthful is divinely awesome.

– Each sushi are well done and laid on the plate-

For sushi lover, do try their Premium Deluxe Sushi (RM 86.00). The sushi is laid graciously in vabriant colors. They are salmon, tuna, sujiko, ebi, uni, hotate, white tuna, kampachi and tamago with it. The ingridients comes fresh with well compliments with the sushi rice. It is just awesome as it is .
Ishin

I am falling in love with the tempura here (RM 88). Instead of using the usual prawns, Ishin had made a twist by using snow crab instead. The tempura comes awesomely delicious with the crunchy bites at the outside nand the inside is sweet and savorey. Awesome!
Ishin
We ended with the Japanese Desserts. Laid with the vabriant colors of the 3 petite delights where we are served with their imported grapes, Mochi and the Japanese Pudding. Each of it is well compliments with each other. The pudding comes smooth with the melts in the mmouth texture while the grapes brings us with the light champagne flavours. As for the mochi, it brings us with the fragrant taste of chessnut in it. I lo
